what to do with pumped milk we don't need...

I have to pump before bed cause my baby only nurses 2 times max at night from 8pm-8am. Its great, but he hates bottles and won't take them (we waited too long to try a bottle). So, what would i do with this pumped milk. I'm considering donating the milk.

1. What could I do with the current milk though?

2. Is it a lot of extra work to donate milk? I have toddler twins and our new baby and my time is pretty limited to go to the Dr and get all the tests, ship milk, etc. I think it would be wonderful to do, but is it a lot of work?

Donate! Donate!!

My dd2 is a recipient of donated milk from www.milkshare.com. I think it might be free for donater(sp?) but youll have to look. Its like a craigslist but for milk!

When I find milk, I go pick it up, I never make the mama come to me. The mom Im currently getting all the milk from put in her ad specifics like "must be able to pick up""clean milk" and "no shipping".

Easy peasy! And from the mother of a milk recipient I want to say THANK YOU for thinking of donating!!!! ::

My DD wanted solids before I was ready to give them to her... so I made yogurt out of the breast milk I had in the freezer. She loves it!

Here is a site that tells you how to make yogurt out of breast milk.

Donate and check out milkshare! It's easy, find someone who wants it (in your area is easiest) and meet them with your milk. Hand it off. Done!

I threw away 30 ounces that I pumped during my baby's first 6 weeks (just to relieve myself, never planned to give her a bottle). I thought I might use it eventually but then she turned out to have food issues and it was all tainted anyway. I recently contacted the milk bank in my area about donating and it turns out that I could have donated because they don't make you have all of the tests done until after you have finished donating. They do not take milk pumped after your baby's first year and they do ask that you commit to donate 100 ounces. That's just the info from my bank (North Texas). I also read somewhere that you can make bars of soap of you are feeling really creative!

You can bake with it! DS won't take a bottle either, so one time I had a couple of bottles worth in the freezer, which I didnt want to go bad. I was making bread and ran out of cow's milk, so I used breastmilk instead. Turned out just like normal. I wouldn't serve it to anyone outside the family though (Hehe!)

donate!

call your HC practitioner that you had while you were pregnant, the pull all the pertinent bloodwork when you get pregnant. They should give you a copy, they did for me at least.

I saw a woman on craftster.com making soap with her breast milk. Donating is probably a better option, but if you like to craft and like hand made soaps...it's another option.

When i go on milkshare it says something like a $15 donation to post - is that for me or for the recipient to post?

Hi, not to be nosy or picky but why do you have to pump? usually moms who are exclusively breastfeeding, offering no bottles, will quickly adjust to making just the amount of milk baby needs. most people throughout the world do not use breast pumps at all, right?
