Ideas for wedding gift that doesn't seem terribly cheap

Here's some info. Friends 2nd wedding. Marrying wealthy man.

I've never been to her soon to be home. Lives on the ocean (maybe a theme idea there). Between the 2 of them they will have 3 children. And they are hoping for one on the way.

So what do I get two previously married individuals combining two households.
And who have money to buy what they want.

I've only come up with a nice picture frame to have new memories displayed? But I don't know the style of their home.

Any ideas?

I like the frame idea. What about a personalized one with their names on it? I have found them on ebay before and gave them as gifts that went over great.

My mom always gets an engraved copy of the wedding invitation for people. You may poke around a "Things Remembered" and see if they have any universal styles.

Do they bake? I have had great luck finding fancy, unopened never used Bundt pans at Goodwill. I've given a couple as gifts.

Knit some dish rags or towels in neutral colors or even a rainbow? If you don't knit, there are some MDC WAHMs who do. Etsy also has some for sale.

Do you have extra craft or scrapbooking materials around? You could create the pages for them to slip some of their wedding photos into.

One of my favorite wedding gifts years ago was a recipe box with a dozen handwritten recipies.

a personalized door knocker?

I like gifting a basket of hommade preserves and spice mixes like hand ground curry powders or seasoning salts. Home dried tea blends. But that is something that I make all year around, so it takes some planning. When it comes to wedding time I have usually saved a few baskets that I have found at the thrift store through the year... all I need to do is make some labels, cover with a scrap of nice cloth and raffia and clip some flowers from the garden.

A bottle of wine they can have for their honeymoon or anniversary? We got a few bottles of wine and champagne for our wedding, and it was a very welcome gift (and one of the few that we actually used!)

I got a fancy self-inking address stamp for one couple and (new names, new address) and they LOVED it. I think this is my new favorite wedding gift.

Previously I always framed the invitation with a nice acid-free mat or two. The style of their invitation (and perhaps also their tastes, if you know them) will determine how you mat and frame it and whether it costs a lot or a little. But it can be done cheap.

Since they are on the ocean I would do a fun LLBean canvas tote bag monogramed with their new name on it. You could put a few beach things in it, or depending on your budget, add a few monogramed beach towels. People always get excited to see their married name (assuming the woman took his name).

If they celebrate Christmas, an "Our First Christmas" ornament for their Christmas tree?

sounds like they don't need anything. I'm picky about 2nd marriages and gift-giving. I would do a donation to a charity in their name.

Anything consumable. Ideally something that would make them think of you, so if there is anything your area is known for, etc. Some homemade jam of local berries, fruit wine, stuff like that. I'm sure they have too much "stuff" already.

Love this idea!

How much money are you thinking of? Penzeys has some nice spice gift boxes, including wedding ones. They aren't organic, but the flavor of their spices are amazing.

We got a bunch of Penzeys gift boxes as wedding gifts, and they're great - we used them and were very grateful.

Operating on the assumption that they don't need anything, I would feel free to stick with little luxuries - some glasses and a bottle of wine, fancy soaps and massage oils and pretty candles, cookbooks if they're into that kind of thing...

Someone gave us a huge candle with our wedding invitation melted into the side (sounds weird, but it was really nice)--it was lovely gift and I don't imagine it cost too much. And, like pp's mention, it's consumable.

This is always my stand-by.

My standby is always a donation to a charity in their name. Preferably a charity they would support themselves, if I know them well enough to guess.

You can ask the charity organization for generic forms/cards that don't say the amount of the donation - that way, they don't know if it's 1 dollar or 1 million dollars.
