There are some great deals on back-to-school items right now and thought we could post the best deals and our finds. (Thanks phatchristy for mentioning this on another thread!)

To get us started, here is what I picked up yesterday at our nearest store selling school supplies.

Office Max (week of August 9-15)
Crayola Crayons - 24 ct - $.20 each (limit 3)
Dixon pencils - 10 ct - $.10 each (limit 3)
Wooden rulers - $.05 each (limit 3)
1 subject notebooks - wide or college ruled, 70 pg - $.01 each (limit 3)

I know many don't want to go there, but I live in the sticks and it is what we got.

Walmart has a bunch of dollar items.

Fiskar scissors $1, Bic pens(plus there are many coupons out there for these) $1, Crayola Crayons-no limit .25(depends on store, some have had them as cheap as .15). There were a bunch of other things too.

As always the dollar store has a ton of school supplies for a buck.

Fiskars for a dollar?!! That is a great deal! I will definitely head over to my Walmart soon. Thanks for the heads up! I also want to pick up some crayons to melt down to make crazy crayons for DS for Christmas. Yippee!

I so wish there was an Office Max nearby. Those are great deals!

Our Wal-Mart has the 24 count crayolas for 20 cents. I always pick up a few packs to melt down on a boring winter day.

They also have the 10 cent one-subject notebooks. They were 15 cents a few weeks ago, so I'm thinking they will mark them to a nickel. I believe they were only 5 cents last year.

I believe Walgreens has the Bic stick pens for 50 cents this week, so free after the $1/2 Bic coupon.

They are kiddie ones, but yes they are $1. I got myself a pair for cutting coupons on the fly when I am shopping. Also a big pack of Crayola colored pencils was $2 if I remember right. Although I know that Rite Aid has some SCR's for Crayola, and some big sales on them too. So with some coupons and the sales it could be a money maker. Poster paints will be on sale there next week too 4/$5, but there is a $4 SCR on those making them a dollar for 4. I'm thinking of going and getting some paints for DD for her b-day.

Also IDK what the price is, but BIC pens are on sale at Rite Aid next week. They are on a BOG2F, so if you really want some pens, use the $1/2Q, and then you can get 6 packs of pens for the price of 2. The Walgreens thing is awesome of course too, I just don't live near one

Glad someone else started the thread LOL.

Anyhow, walmart definitely has deals, the crayons are good, their filler paper was .75, and portfolios were .15. And, the markers were .70 for 11 washable markers and colored pencils were also very cheap .75 I believe. Also, glue sticks (elmers) are 2 for .25

Staples had some good deals this week--free pencil sharpener after rebate 2/1.00 for a multipack of highlighters (when you use the bic coupon from smart source), and .01 notebooks (which we stocked up on).

The next slew of deals will come out this weekend...

I bought mine at ToysRUs a week or so ago. They had buy any backpack and get a lunch pack free with free shipping. However, they had backpacks that already came with a lunch pack! So, I actually got one backpack, two lunch kits for $13.60 shipped. It worked out pretty well for us because Ross had a backpack one DD liked for $3.49 on clearance. So, we're all set!

I don't think they have exactly the same deal anymore.

I heard office depot or office max were supposed to have a free backpack w/$10 purchase.

Pretty much every year the disney store has a buy a backpack get a free lunch kit too, and you can use coupons on that.

However, I know a lot of MDC people aren't into charachters.

By far the best deal I got on backpacks was last year, at the community garage sale down the street I got 2 for $1.00!!!

Not the greatest deal on the planet, but Gymboree has lunch bags on sale for $10. I bought DS one of those and a backpack I found at my local recycling center for a dollar. I figured $11 total was pretty good for his backpack and lunch bag.
