*the rare and elusive "dad" emerges from the dense foliage of the internets*
Hello all. You may call me Sir Duskwood (and imagine me riding around heroically in shiny, shiny platemail if you wish)
I'm an English major in college, and I also work at home as a ghostwriter (a cool job that allows for lots of cuddle time with family). In my free time I'm a huge gamer geek... I like videogames but am not addicted nearly as much as I used to be. Parenting demands a lot of quality time and such. But I've got a great Dungeons and Dragons group going on Wednesday nights and have been known to roll a critical hit now and then.
DD is currently 16 months old. She isn't talking yet but she uses hand signs, she started walking at 9 months, and she is incredibly athletic... sometimes we wrestle and she likes to headbutt me. I read to her every day and often go on walks with her around the neighborhood. She loves to run around and throw dirt, or yell out at random strangers. One time she gave me 37 hugs in a row and thought it was hilarious. I let her play with my dice sometimes (under supervision so she doesn't put them in her mouth) and she likes to hurl a handful of them ALL over my living room and shout out "DIE!"
DW is on here as SwanValkyrie, I believe. She is ultra-crunchy and practices attachment parenting, co-sleeping, traditional organic foods (as much as food stamps will buy), positive discipline, and unschooling. She is a member of the local food cooperative too. I am on board for most of this stuff, but she has to drag me along at times 'cuz I'm cheap and lazy.
I hope I can help some people out here with my parenting experiences thus far, and also receive advice about the toddler/preschool years ahead of me.

Thats the best intro I've read in some time

I wish my DH would use the forums, he's pretty great with DS as it is, but I think he'd learn a lot anyway. Now I'm starting to wonder if there's hope for him (to visit Mothering too) someday lol ... welcome!
Awesome!
