Winter Holiday List

Thread Starter
Can we keep a list going of projects we're making people for whatever winter holiday we celebrate? We could offer suggestions for people, show off our accomplishments, etc.
So here's my very rough list so far:

knitting needles for friends (out of dowels, haven't tried it yet)

a bunch of washclothes, including one of a christmas stocking http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/libr...king-dishcloth

a quilt for my baby

a playmat for my boys, with some needle felted caves, a barn, etc.

sweaters for my boys

I also have a pattern for these really pretty knitted ankle things, they're like the top of socks, but sort of like a bracelet or necklace. http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/lugh08/alia.htm

Baby's First Teratoma, which is macabre and adorable at the same time http://www.theanticraft.com/archive/...6/teratoma.htm

And the Gothic Glam Yule hat for my teenage daughter from Anticraft's book Knitting... Slightly Sinister.

I'm just teaching myself to knit, but the plan is to make washclothes and soap to give as gifts.

Making my husband a wool gator (which is like the neck part of a ski mask, can be worn like a cowl or pulled up over mouth and nose). Don't have a pattern but he has one issued from the army that I can use as a guide.

Anything beyond is depending on how much I'm able to teach myself in the next few months

Although... I think I'm in love with the anticraft website, so thank you many muches, MamaWolfe!

Well I am relieved to say that we are not exchanging gifts with the extended family this year. So that cuts down on my knitting. My main two projects are for DS and include:
#1 A large knitted snake (he's really into snakes right now).
#2 Knitted farm mat (because he also loves splaying farmer with his toy horses and cows).

I may end up adding an item for DH and possibly some children's socks and mittens to donate.

On second thought, I've gotta use this pattern to embellish a hat for DH! http://www.theanticraft.com/projects...rtis_chart.pdf

Many thanks for the anticraft link!

dead fish hat (with live eyes, not dead X ones) for my dad
multicolor mittens and beanie for dd, possibly crocheted mermaid doll
beanie for my mom
beret for my sister

(everyone asked for hats!)

I was planning a fair amount of sewing but I just got LOT of wool from freecycle so I'm getting started with some felted gifts. I've never done it before so we will see how it goes.

Felted crowns for DD and DS
felted bowl for MIL

I my also do some felted coasters for my sisters, socks for my dad and pot holder for my mum. We will see how the first projects go.

I also plan to knit some dishcloths, I found an owl patten so hopefully I can add to my gran's owl collection without adding to her clutter.

Sewing wise I have
eye spy bags for DS and nephew
doorway puppet theatre for DD and DS

phew, that looks longer typed out

I'm really feeling shawls for the women in our family this year.
Thinking of making the Aestlight shawl on Ravelry for my mom

The Deciduous shawl for my MIL (who is a nature lover)

and the Feather and Fan Comfort shawl for my sister in some really funky Noro Kureyon Sock yarn, to be worn as a scarf.

Also making the Phenomenon mitts for my younger sister who is a big fan of Twilight:

Last year I didn't start knitting for the holidays until October, since I had only learned to knit in August. I wound up being very stressed by the sheer amount of projects I had to get done. This year I'm hoping to churn out some higher-quality stuff now that I have more practice and more time!

I haven't finished making my list of projects for presents this year yet. I am working on that list now searching for patterns of things I want to make. I'll come back to update my list when I finish it. So far on the list I have:

DD - Lacy child's top (just started this one)

I'm working on this now and doing her's in a deep purple, lavendar, and beige. I think its coming out really pretty.

I'm working on my list of stuff for the kinds and still looking for patterns for the other presents.

I only crochet right now, and am trying to keep projects small since I have a few.

I need to get scarves and hats for the four of us done before anything else. Its getting cold!

My BILS are each getting scarves done in their favorite football team's colors. My little sister is getting a dark red pair of fingerless gloves with a cream OU logo embroidered on them.

I am making felted coasters for my dad, my mom and her BF, and my MIL. I am also going to make them some dishtowels packaged with some soup mix and mugs.

The girls are getting crocheted food for their play kitchen because it's quieter than wood and not as painful to step on! dd1 wants me to crochet her a snuggie so that's on the list, too.
