Tupperware Lunch'n Things vs Bento

It just dawned on me that I need containers for DD's lunches at school this year. I'd love to get stainless steel containers but they're too pricey for now.

For those who have the Lunch'n Things container, are the compartments truly seperate? If I put pasta/fruit salad in one and crackers in the other, will the crackers get soaked?

We're not really sandwich people, so I wonder if I'd be better off with Bento Buddies? I know about Laptop lunch containers being PVC, phthalates, BPA, and lead free. Is Tupperware evil? I can't seem to find much info.

Thank you!!!

Here is a great review of Tupperware Lunch 'n Things that I found online. It looks like it doesn't hold very much, but the lid is grooved, which sounds like it would keep things in one compartment from getting onto the other compartment's contents.

I also found this link that says that Tupperware does not use PVC. They do use BPA, but not in the Lunch 'n Things.

We've used the tupperware lunch 'n things containers for years, and I LOVE them. The compartments are completely separate. Fruit salad in one area and crackers in another won't be a problem at all.

I will agree that you do need to be creative when packing. For example, an apple won't fit in the box- but I don't think it would fit in a bento either. I cut apples into slices when putting them in the luchbox.

As for the box not holding much, I guess it depends on what you pack. My general formula for lunch is:
*main dish (usually a sandwich but sometimes leftovers) in the large center area
*fruit (sliced apples or oranges, strawberries, grapes, banana cut in half, etc.) in the lefthand (juice box sized) compartment
*veggie (carrots, celery, grape tomatoes, cuke slices, broccoli florets, etc) in one of the small compartments on the right.
*raisins/nuts/crackers in the other small compartment on the right.
