Breast Started Leaking 2 Weeks Post Partum?

Our DD is 2 weeks old. BFing is going great. : A huge relief as we had a rough start with DS 5 years ago.

I'm not getting super engorged at all, breasts seem to have regulated pretty well pretty quickly. I seem to have plenty of milk she's 4oz over birth weight at 14 days so that's good.

The odd thing is - up until today, I have not been leaking at all. Today I am suddenly leaking enough to soak through the breast pad, the bra, and 2 layers of shirt. : What the???

Why would I START leaking suddenly at 2 weeks post partum?

Was your milk letting down prior to the leaking? With my last baby my milk came in very quickly but didn't actually let down at all for several days. It's a good thing, that it's happening. I'd just be happy about it

I don't remember when it first happened for me. I know it wasn't the first week. But, now if I look view my breasts as squirt guns it helps me be more realistic. Then I can laugh when they spout. I would never leave home without pads and I'm constantly surprised by how much liquid one little pad can hold. If you soaked through that many layers, I would ask if you are using disposable pads? I've heard they are much more absorbent. I know mine hold a lot because they are heavy when I wake up. I'm at seven weeks now, so I'd say enjoy your happy milk producers and keep lots of towels on hand while feeding.
