lets be realistic - am I a CD candidate? - Page 2

Gosh, My generation were cloth diapered in the 70's. So basically, anyone over 30 is very likely to have been cloth diapered. no trouble with hips over here.

The way I see it, dis. are plastic, they don't breath and are scratchy. For these reasons alone, we have good reasons to use cloth. Babies can not control their own body temp, so dis. will only add to a baby possibly over heating, which are one of the scare factors for SIDS. I'd personaly want to do all that I could to make my baby comfortable, I'd rather wear cotton underware over plastic.

you can also go coverless with cloth.

Prefolds can be used with a snappy, this will allow the diaper to be adjusted to fit better, with less bulk between the legs and will allow the diaper to be used without a cover.

A cover with leg gussets will help contain the breastfed poop, cloth itself also holds onto the poop better than dis. You can also fold a predile in a way that help contain blow outs too.

Prowraps are probably the best cover out there for containing big blowouts, although you will have to wash the cover after a blowout, you won't have to wash bedding, car seat covers, sling, your clothes ( where ever baby happened to be) plus the babies clothes.

Using cloth with a diaper service will save you on laundry, and since you are overwhelmed with laundry, using cloth will help you out a lot!!

covers can be hand washed and line dried, or they can go on with your regular laundry. I would recomend six covers for a newborn, so you don't run short.

I am curious, do you pay for the prefolds with the laundry service? are the prefolds used on other babies too? Or just alocated to one baby? Does a diaper service use bleach? I don't quite know how they work.

What about getting a laundry service instead? Then all your washing will get done for you. Just an idea

i nanny for a little boy who has parents who have gotten a service for his diapers. the diapers are all shared with other babies, and the parents take care of the wraps. it looks to me like the diapers must be bleached. i think that's the only way the service could get all the stains out like they do? honestly, if im going to be running a load for the wraps, id rather just go all out and wash the prefolds too, lol. i guess the wraps could just be thrown in with a load of towels or whatever though.

No, the prefolds are included in the service. They pick up the dirty ones (no rinsing required, just drop in the hamper and set the bag outside 1x/week) and give you a whole new set - and different sizes are available. They are all mixed together, mine and whoever else's. That really doesn't other me - they use super industrial washers at high temps so any bacteria would be killed quickly. I believe they use just a touch of bleach.

Here's their website if you want to see how they do everything (it's pretty thorough):

I don't think there's one around here I know of a few laundromats that have wash & fold service, but you have to drop it off and pick it up, it's super expensive, and I doubt they do diapers (bodily waste). I wish, though!!!!
