There are several - less than Bozeman, I think. But quite a few. There's a really nice park near the library and senior center, where the Farmer's Market is held, with a fountain etc. (intended as a wading pool for kids too). There's another park that's large which is where they have the Concert in the Park all summer (Thursday nights? I don't remember which night, we seldom attend). Then some neighborhood parks sprinkled around too ... we are less than 2 blocks from a park. The walking trails are good, and eventually will connect the whole town (there are unpaved 'breaks' in the path in a few places right now). And of course, there are the Big Horns, which have lots of campgrounds etc. ... there is a nearby lake quite a few people go to - Lake DeSmet I think. Lake in the mountains, too.

| And what about the library or the museum? I couldn't find too much online about kids programs, do they have many? |
There is a children's section at the museum which is cool. Nowhere near MoR, but still a nice museum with some fun interactive stuff for kids. The library has story time T/W/Th, I think it's baby/preK/K (but could be wrong), in the mornings. And during the summer, they have a ton of activities for kids of various ages to participate in (some one-time things, some are over a week or more).
The Y here is really nice, and does a good job too of having things for kids- not just athletic stuff, soccer/bball/swimming, but also summer camps and art classes, after school stuff, etc. They have a website:
http://www.sheridanymca.org/ They also have an indoor play park.

| One thing you mentioned has me wondering: the mine situation around Sheridan. You said it's a coal mine? Does it influence/affect the area much? What about runoff, does it affect the water supply or air quality? We lived near a mine in NM and it really kind of was the main business in the area. |
The mine doesn't impact our water/runoff (it runs towards MT instead) .... Those out of town are impacted by CBM issues, not as much from the companies as from the methane itself (ranchers can light their stock tank water on fire as a fun trick, for instance) - water quality isn't always very good outside of town, it depends where you are whether you're going to have some really difficult water.

Anyway, I can't think of anything you didn't already cover, so thank you so much!!! If we end up there I'd LOVE to meet up with you other mothering mamas, we can make our own little group instead of joining MOPS or some other organization like that! |
...And thus my introverted decision never to join one of the groups, could end in never having to worry about it anyway.

Good luck with your decision! If you want to PM me with the name of the company your dh is considering, dh and I can let you know what we've heard about that company in terms of what it's like to work for etc.
