Do All Fitteds Take Forever To Dry?

Or is it just my Kissaluvs?

I was SO excited when I started accumilating my newborn stash! I started prepping my NB stash and yesterday when I tried drying my kissaluvs fitteds it took 2 1/2 dryer cycles to get them dry. And this was with the load being only 12 Kissaluvs by themselves. I can't imagine how long it is going to take once prefolds are in there too. I only have the comparison of laundering my FBs that I used with DS, so I understand that the removable liner of a pocket will dry faster than a diaper that has all of its absorbancy inside...I wasn't expecting them to dry as quickly. BUT I just do not see how having to run the dryer almost 3 cycles per load of dipes is going to save me money or time. I did not enter the world of cloth diapering with the intent of hanging diapers to dry on a line outside on a regular basis. (Sunning to remove stains, yes) But DH helps a ton with diaper laundry and he was totally surprised and dissapointed at how long it took to dry them.

I have put prefolds in with my FBs before and they were always a bit damp when the pockets were dry, but nothing like how wet the Kissaluvs were after the first dryer cycle.

I think the dipes are cute and all, but this may well be the issue that keeps them at the bottom of my stash. (Or gets them sold and replaced with more prefolds.)

Is it just me? Instead of attempting to dry them on a "normal" setting the second time, I switch the setting to "bulky" items, but that didn't seem to make a difference. Should I just forget using a presetting and go straight for a really long timed-dry on high heat? Ugh. I can just feel our electricity bill climbing as we speak...

My kissaluvs do take a long time to dry. I've never timed them but they always seem to be a bit damp in the middle when the rest are done. Do you have access to a line where you could dry them outside? That would take care of the energy issue.

I did just get some Motherease Fitteds and they are really nice. They have a snap-in doubler so you take that off and both pieces are thin enough to dry up pretty quickly.

Kissaluvs have an internal soaker so yeah, they will take forever to dry. Try hanging them first and then finishing them off in the dryer.

Some fitteds have a snap in soaker, which doesn't take as long to dry since you can dry them seperately. Kissaluvs don't have it, so they take longer to dry. It's the same with an AIO vs. a pocket diaper.

*sigh*
This whole CD world with so many options certainly can confuse a person. I *thought* I had done a ton of research before deciding on going with KLs fitteds for the newborn stage...nowhere did I find a warning that they take sooooo long to dry in a dryer. I'm MUCH too lazy for line drying and would have never picked them had I known. We don't even have a place to put a clothesline. I need easy...both because I will be taking care of a newborn plus 3 year old AND my husband is a huge help with laundry and I'd never want to make more work for him.

Oh well...live and learn. Wish I had known this prior to removing the tags and washing them.

Thanks for the Motherease suggestion.
Now I am off to figure out whether to try to sell my Kissaluvs and replace with dipes that don't have internal soakers or just try to live with it and pray that our electricity bill doesn't bankrupt us.

Try drying them with the prefolds--I find with fitteds that they dry better that way.

Fitteds will dry fine with prefolds. In fact, they will actually dry better when there's a little more stuff in the dryer.

Get yourself some dryer balls and throw a dry bath towel in the dryer too- you'll be amazed at how much that cuts down the dry time. I dry my dipes on regular with dryer balls and a bath towel (one which I reserve strictly for this purpose and does not actually get used, altho you don't necessarily have to do that, as long as you don't use fabric softener with any of your laundry) and it takes under an hour tops. (I also have a frontloader tho, so it spins the bejesus out of my laundry.)

I now use the dryer balls and the towel trick with all my laundry and have cut down the dryer time tremendously.

After I finish one dryer cycle, I take out all the pockets and anything already dry. Whatever is left in there I add to it the clothes coming up from the dryer. That way the wet stuff gets 2 cycles but for no extra money.

Thank you all for the helpful hints for this pregnancy brained mama! :
I had no idea that adding prefolds could help. Just assumed it would increase the dry time with more wet stuff in there. They will certainly be washed and dried with prefolds a ton, cause that's my entire newborn stash.
The dryer balls, dry towel, drying with the next load of clothes ideas are awesome as well! Thank you again!

I'd wait to try the Kissaluvs out before selling them - they are SUCH great NB diapers! I did dry mine on high with towels...it helped, but it was what it was. She outgrew them pretty fast though; by about 3mo they weren't absorbent enough. We used UTN fitteds for awhile but they take forever to dry - same with bamboo dipes, too.

I highly second the ME suggestion. I love my ME sandies so much! I hadn't anticipated buying more diapers but I'm going to sell the UTN and Thirsties I have to buy 24 small sandies. We started using them in larges, at 12mo, and they dry quick, in less than one cycle, and haven't leaked yet!

That's what I was going to suggest.

Swaddlebees fitteds have a soaker sewn in only at one end, so they dry faster than KL0's. Actually, thinking about it now, my KL0's took longer than any other nb fitteds I had.

The kissaluvs fit SO great- Ive just ordered more. They do take FOREVER to dry though. I have an indoor drying rack I got for $5. So I do them til almost dry on there then throw them in the dryer for the last little bit which makes them softer too. Its a pain, but they're worth it

Yep, the more stuff you have in there, the quicker they dry. Also, the dry time shortens the more they are used.
