Thats rubbish - i know here they will push for an induction at 41 + 6(or before) and they say no homebirth from that point - BUT you can refuse and stay at home, they can't make you go to hospital and they have to come out to you in labour at home.... So it might be worth looking into the legalities of it?

still preggo here. had a false alarm this weekend. Had 2 days of prodromal labor which had all but stopped until just now when I started typing this. I am only 38 weeks but 100% effaced. My MW is staying in town bc she thinks I am going to deliver. Hope she doesn't have to hang around for a week!

I'm not sure how that would work, wouldn't they be allowed to refuse care? I'll look into it, and I can mention it in a neutral way at my appointment Tuesday.
DH is out to get spicy Thai food right now.

its kind of the same thing with here in Utah. A CNM can't do homebirths but if one of their clients goes into labor and can't make it to the birth center or hospital, legally, the CNM can go to her house to deliver her baby. They'd rather you have someone than no one at all.

That is so silly! I wonder how many people have to plan on "not making it" just to be able to have a HB?

AFM, I'm not sure what the heck is going on. You'd think I'd know after having two kids already. I woke up with lots of pressure and a slight burning feeling down low with random contractions that have continued through the day. Then I started peeing blood this afternoon (definitely coming from bladder, not cervix) so it sounds like I have a UTI/Kidney infection or even another kidney stone. I drank loads of water and the blood is either gone or super dilluted so I can't see it. The contractions are stronger now. I'm hoping it is labor but scared it is just pain from an infection. Please oh please let it be labor! I am a walking UTI these days!

: for no UTI and labor instead!

Oh Jillian, I hope it not a UTI and labor too! Sending you go into labor vibes puddleduck!

Okay, I just did a newborn photography shoot this morning for a baby that probably weighs less than the one inside me. Is that not the biggest trip ever? Look at this little sweetheart, and you pregnant mamas tell me that you can believe you have one of those inside your body right now!!!

Yeah, that's pretty hard to believe! How big was she at birth?

I've looked at this picture over and over again and I can't bring myself to believe it. I still have moments of surprise when I identify a distinct leg moving around in there. Maybe I have some denial issues to work on . . .

I don't think most people know about it. I didn't. Although in Utah LDEM's and DEM's can do homebirths, so its not like we don't have midwives to deliver for us. I just know because I have a friend who that happened with.

She was born at 38 weeks and is now 14 days old-yesterday was her due date. She is 6 1/2lbs, and my midwife thinks my baby is close to 7lbs, so my baby could be bigger than that one! How does she fit it me? I think this photo makes her look curly and small enough to be in my big ol' belly.

My DD was 8.5 lbs and sometimes I see babies and think she was never that small. I ask what they weigh and sure enough, she was never that small (that I saw anyway).

I'm still pregnant, no signs of labor- was 40w a few days ago.

Your photography is so soul reaching, Spring Sun. And it's amazing to think that about the little baby. My baby (in me) is really bony. I wonder how big it is. Hmm.

Yea, I can see her fitting in mine, just in that position. And I agree about your work being soul reaching...it seems that you have really found your niche.

Well i would assume that Amsterdam would have to follow the same sort of human rights as the UK in which they cannot refuse care..... Not sure if an midwife would admit to it though. Is there an homebirth support group for your area?

I am 41 +1 (or 41 +5 from LMP) - if one more person tells me to 'just get that baby out of there' i'm going to poke em in the eye. I just keep on repeating - my body is perfect and knows what its doing.

41w1day...... I go to bed every night thinking, Tonight I will wake up with contractions and tomorrow we will have a baby.... yet every morning I wake up still very much pregnant and no signs of a baby.

It is getting very discouraging. DS1 was born at 41w1d so this day has kind of been in te back of my mind as the absolute last day it could happen.

I now have 4 days to get the baby out or I loose my midwife and my mom. If he is not here by Thursday night I will most likely end up with a hospital birth and a midwife I have never met and my mom will be on a flight home and I won't see her again until October if we are able to swing a trip back to Denmark.
