Detecting Nutrient Defincinies? x-posted in health and healing

I know a lot of health issues are sometimes related to nutrient deficiencies, and I'd love to know I'm deficient in anything.
Are there blood tests that can be done for all sorts of nutrient deficiencies? I know you can for Vit D. Are they terribly expensive? Should I just ask my regular (MD) doctor to do them, or do I need to find a specific doctor? Thanks!

I would try going to a naturopathic doctor (ND) They are certified to be primary care physicians in many states. I did do some extensive testing that checked for most vitamins and minerals. If I remember right is was about $300. My insurance plan didn't cover any of it. I did find out I was deficient in a few things specifically vit. B-12. I'm going to start B-12 shots and hopefully this will take care of my low energy problem. I"m pretty certain it will...

However, if you do go to a allopathic doctor I'm not sure they would even know such a test exist. IME they just seem to prescibe drugs right away and don't really test too much to find out what the root cause might be. HTH-Kate

Thanks. I talked to my mom (she sees the same doc as me) and says our doc DOES do things like that and I should call his office monday. If he doesn't, I'll definitely check out a naturopath. Thank you
