Using a Fetal Doppler

I am thinking about getting a doppler this time around. Can anyone tell me how to find the placenta with it? If I remember from my midwife deliveries, it sounded like a "swoosh-swooshing" noise. Is that right? Is it fairly easy to find?

Yes, it makes a loud "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh" sound. You can't miss it. If you get a large artery, sometimes you'll hear that whooshing, but the placenta will make a much louder sound.

to me it sounded like wind in mountain trees. If that makes ANY sense. LOL!
