SHORT VERSION: When the baby drops, can it cause back pain even if the baby is in an ideal position (ROA or LOA)?
Way too long version: Earlier this week, I had some practice contractions that felt more "real" than the BH and menstrual cramps I'd had before. I felt them a little bit in my back, not just in my sides and lower belly.
Then my midwife came and said that even though the baby was still officially anterior (and head down), s/he was twisted a little and her face was pointed forward. She speculated this could be a reason for my back pain-including practice waves. At the appointment, my midwife encouraged my husband to feel the baby's head position, and he did.
The next day (after a chiropractic appointment with a chiropractor that seemed a little awkward with my pregnant-ness, actually), my extreme lower back (just an inch or two from the end of my tailbone) started hurting in a dull, achy way. I have had NO back pain during this whole pregnancy, so it surprised me. And I worried and restarted positioning exercises that I stopped after falling and severely scraping up my knee a couple of weeks back. But then my husband came, felt my belly, and said the baby's head was even lower now, so maybe that was the reason for the back pain. It's a bit uncomfortable and totally unresponsive to stretching or exercises that would normally help me if my sacrum was just locked up. I just wish I could know what is causing it.
