*I think this is the right spot for this post. Please move if I am mistaken.*
Yesterday I took my 4 year old dd to a playdate where lunch was served. The hostess offered my dd an ice cream bar for dessert. I didn't pay much attention since the mother had just served my child a meal that was primarily organic but after my dd was about halfway through the ice cream I saw that it was "Healthy Choice" brand and contained aspartame. I wasn't happy but decided to let her finish the ice cream and then we'd go back to never, ever eating Aspartame.
About an hour later it was time to leave and my dd had a tantrum like I have never seen before. She was running from me, yelling, then she got violent. She broke my glasses, hit me, kicked me. My 38 lb four year old bruised me in several spots. I physically could not get her into her carseat despite my determination.
The tantrum lasted about a half hour and the violence lasted about 5 minutes. It was bad enough that I was certain someone was going to call the police on us and I couldn't have blamed them.
Later on I speculated to a friend that maybe it was the ice cream and she googled it to find that violence is listed as an Aspartame reaction. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this same phenomenon or similar. Of course I won't allow Aspartame ever again, even if it means being a less than perfect guest. Thanks in advance for your insight.
