first baby boy and a new home

Hi, I'm new to the mothering.com forums and to the state of Oregon. My son (first baby) was born at home in May, and I'm lucky enough to stay home with him. I don't think of him as "high needs," because that sounds like I'd have something to compare him to (a lower needs baby?), but I definitely don't feel comfortable leaving him lying in something for very long. Then again, I can't leave him in a sling/carrier for long, either. Seems like he's often eating or wanting to be held! I have a lot to learn and had a full life (and full of expectations) before he was born. Now I'm adjusting to not being very "productive," but I'm definitely enjoying my baby.

I have an extremely supportive husband, two cats, a dog, and some chickens. We moved here from the desert southwest a few months ago. I look forwarding to meeting like-minded parents who live near me, who enjoy the attachment parenting suggestions of Dr. Sears and others.

welcome.
I haven't been to these threads for a while, as I have a 3 and 1.5 yr old, and so feel seasoned!!, but thought I'd see who's new.
It just gets better, I promise!

Congrats on the new arrival! It does get easier the more mobile they become

Thank you both.

If it gets easier, it means I'll have to clean the floors more often when he's moving about! And then there's the large (but gentle) dog to consider!
