Emma Elizabeth was born on Monday August 10, 2009 (37 weeks and 6 days) at 2:39 pm. She weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz. and measured 20 inches long!
I started having contractions 5 minutes apart on Sunday evening and they continued all through the night and morning, they were uncomfortable but not too big a deal. I was pretty tired by the time 11:00 in the morning rolled around so I took a nice hot shower and slept for an hour and a half. I told my dh we might go to the hospital if the contractions got worse, but I really didn't want to go until they were stronger. After my nap I woke up and was hit hard with a contraction, it was excruciating so after 3 of those I told my husband I was finally ready to head to the hospital, NOW.
Once I got there it was about 12:30 they checked me and I was dialated to a 7 so they hurriedly got me a room, the contractions I was having were just awful so I decided to get an epidural. Thankfully I got it only 10 minutes after arriving in my room. Let me tell you my husband was very relieved when I did
He has never seen me in so much pain.
About a half hour later they broke my water and within 20 minutes I was fully dialated and ready to push, it took about 6 contraction pushing 3 times a contraction for her to come out. Thankfully I only had a 1st degree tear. We had about an hours worth of skin to skin time and then we got ready to head to our room. I wasn't so sure how BF was going to go but it is amazing, and Emma is nursing very well she actually gained 3 oz in one day!
It was the most amazing thing ever to be able to push my baby girl out and to have my amazing husband besides me. I almost can't believe I got my VBAC, this birth experience was everything i wanted and much more!
