What is that Clicking Sound?

My babe makes this clicking sound when she nurses about 60% of the time. The one breastfeeding book I have says that she is sucking on her tongue instead of my nipple but doesn't give any ideas on how to remedy it. She still has strong suction though and the sound is usually every couple of sucks rather than each one. DD is 6 wks and gaining weight very well so I know she is getting the right amount of milk. I am wondering is somehow the clicking is related to all of the air that I hear her swallowing. Her latch seems fine to me but I do seem to have a lot of milk. Any ideas?

My last two babies made that ALL THE TIME until they were about 3 months old. Their latch was fine - gaping mouths, sealed tongue - my nipples were not sore, they got lots of milk and gained weight well. But there was always that click.

Nothing I did fixed it, so I eventually gave up trying to fix it, and they both grew out of it.

Often times the clicking sound is made when they are swallowing, which can be every few sucks, once they get a good rhythm down

clicking normally means a bad latch.

I know they say clicking = bad latch, but I think that's a different clicking than the one baby made in the very early weeks. She stopped at some point, but I don't remember when.

I remember my dd made that clicking sound when she nursed. Her latch was great, so I was never able to figure out what was causing it. The clicking stopped after she was 3 months old, so I suppose she outgrew it. My other 2 kids never clicked.
