She weaned (I think)

4 year old DD told me that she was going to wean after her birthday party in July, but she didn't. I didn't push it, but I must admit, with another baby on the way, I've been vaguely anxious for her to wean. We were discussing it about a week and a half ago and came up with the idea of having a special "big girl" day to celebrate her last mommy milk.

So, on Saturday morning, we woke up and had milk for the last time. Later, she got two presents (her idea, of course). One was a watch--a big girl present--and the other was a lap desk just like the one I use to do grading during the school year. Then we took her to her first movie at a theater, Ponyo.

She keeps talking about how she's a big girl now and how the milk is for the baby. I don't know if this was totally CLW, but I feel really good about letting her nurse for 4 years. I think she was a really lucky little girl, but I also think I was a really lucky mama.

Just had to share! :

Congratulations on making it four years! It sounds like you had a great nursing relationship followed by a very gentle, child respectful weaning. Congrats! Now rest up because it sounds like you have another 4 year nursing relationship coming up

I've been waiting too and my just turned 4 year old has now decided that she still wants mommy milk while she is 4...I was hoping to get a break before the new one gets here too!
Still 10 weeks so maybe.
