First quilt question...

Thread Starter
...my aunty gifted me two bags FULL of fabric, books and quilting tools, all new, probably worth over 300$. So I'd like to get quiltin' except I don't know what I'm doing

I have tons of flannel left over from my cloth diapering days...I was wondering if it's possible, or even a good idea to make a first quilt with flannel. I was planning on a doll quilt to start with...

Any advice from expert quilters out there?

TIA!

Flannel might be rough for a first quilt

Try one of the tutorials from Sew Mama Sew?

You could do a rag quilt. I've never done one, but I think you can do them with several layers of flannel quilted together with no batting. There is a simple pattern here: http://www.quiltalotamus.com/TipsPatterns.htm or here: http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpa.../rag_quilt.htm
