Awesome score on Reduced for Quick Sale meat!

Our local grocery store is closed for renovations today and when I was there yesterday I discovered a bunch of Angus beef marked at 50% off for quick sale. It expires tomorrow but that doesn't matter to me because I stuck it in the freezer!!!

I also got some "Natural" chicken for 50% off too! I wish I had gone earlier in the day because I might have gotten more.

The absolute best part was that I've been craving Beef Bourginionne (sp?) since I've been reading Julia Child's book "My Life in France" and the movie is out plus it was her birthday on Saturday. The "boeuf" as I call it is my favourite of her recipes and part of my haul at the store was 3lbs of Angus stewing beef!!! I'm so excited and drooling already!!!!!

So just curious, how much was the meat then after discount?

I had a great score a couple of weeks ago. A pound of ground veal was $1.50 because it was "due" the next day. I was going to buy ground beef for a spaghetti dinner, but the same amount was $3.50!

Our store often has their meats discounted by a dollar to $3.00 because the meat is "due" in the next day or two. The trick is to go mid morning, and not be picky about what cuts you want.
