Plus, has anybody else been happily writing along and suddenly your scene takes a huge turn that you didn't expect? It's almost like my characters are taking on lives of their own and adding stuff to the story I never intended to write. I can't quite decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Maybe I'll have to wait to see what happens down this little rabbit trail?
This happens to me all the time... in fact it happened again today when the present bad guy showed his weakness/good side. I knew it was going to happen a little.. but not this much.. Dang it's getting harder to hate this guy.. and it makes it harder to see him being the one who brings down a whole civilization... so if not him, who??

SO how is everyone's writing coming?? Everyone still plugging along, even if it is coming slower then you might like?? Mine is certainly going slower then I might like.. exhaustion had let up a little during the week and is back with a vengeance today.. but at least now I know what is causing it.. I found out at the Dr's on Friday that I am extremely Iron Deficient so I am now on supplements and eating more iron rich foods.. Unfortunately, I while the exhaustion lessened a bit, the mental fog really didn't... except maybe a brief while at the Dr's office where I managed to write a good 1k worth of words! So, I've been re-writing yet another chapter from last year that was in 1st person and needs to be in 3rd.. Despite doing that, I'm still behind.. Brain just isn't functioning well enough to come up with anything original at the moment... it's hard enough to focus on the transcribing... Off to attempt 10 more minutes since DH is playing with DS upstairs, thus slightly less distracting..

Praying all is well with the rest of you!

Oh I hope you feel better soon. When I had low iron it only took two weeks to get it up to normal levels..hopefully you have the same luck!

I'm on track! I'm at 27000k which is where I want to be right now at the halfway point. I'm also at chapter 17 of revisions of my WIP and have a wonderful and crazy story idea for a new book!

Tomorrow is a full day of writing if I can do it...kids are all in school and I deserve it!!!

I'll check in tomorrow!

Ooof. Word count is okay but quality may be suffering. I'm starting later and later at night now that my mom is on her work week and I'm alone with the babies. I'm in a tough part of my novel. The only part that will be harder will be the military part. Ugh.

So, I'm 20K behind. Yeah. Yay.

Well, I sort of gave up on this. After dd's teacher died, the next day, we both fell apart a bit. Then I got a call for a job pre-interview for a job I wasn't even looking for, and then I started preparing myself by updating my resume and researching all about it, then went to it on Wednesday afternoon, then Thursday my dd3 split her scalp open and needed 2 staples at the ER, then I went to the wake on Friday for dd1s teacher, then dh remembered we were supposed to have a couple over for dinner so we scrambled cleaning up the house and Sunday we had 2 birthday parties and well...needless to say, I'm behind.

It got so that the novel was becoming a chore to think about. So much happened that I started feeling guilty for spending so much time on it before. I decided that I will finish the novel, but probably NOT in time for NaNo. NaNo was supposed to be fun. It stopped being fun for a while. I may get back to it, and I may not. I haven't decided.

And even though it's for fun...what's the point of writing 50,000 words of crap I'm going to end up hating just for the sake of saying I did it, if there is much more significant LIFE happening all around me that needs my immediate attention? It kind of goes against what I want out of my writing.

Sorry you've had a rough time Miss Information

The reason I am so glad I did the Nanowrimo challenge last year is that it was the impetus I needed to seriously write now. It let me know that I COULD get a lot done in a very short time.

So for me the end really justified the means and my second..good book..is done now and in revisions and I don't think it would be without the stuff I learned from my nano experience last year.

But it's not for everybody..nothing is.

I didn't mean to sound so hopeless...

I was having a lot of fun with it for the first 15,000 words. But life just interrupted in a major way and I don't think I have the gumption to get back on track. Especially in the event I actually do get that job (not likely but you never know).

I wish last week would have happened last month or next month, then it wouldn't have caused such a disturbance.

Miss Information-- I'm so sorry to hear you've had such a rough time.. praying things get easier for you.. In light of it all I don't blame you for giving up on NaNoWriMo, But I pray you don't give up on your story/ writing all together. Just give yourself a break and then get back into the writing.. at your speed!

Allgirls-- Good job keeping up with NaNo!! It's wonderful to hear about someone having success with their writing!! And enjoying it!

Autumn Breeze-
-Are you still trying or have you given up since you are so far behind? I'd encourage you to keep writing, even if you don't end up winning... writing for the joy of writing.. for the love of it is more important! Allowing yourself to do what you enjoy is important.. November is the one month I really let myself indulge in this.. I'm hoping to make it habit that will last through out the year... not necessarily many hours of attempting to write per day, but at least a 15 minutes per day, every day.

EdnaMarie Quality can be fixed in December.. keep plodding along.. at least you are getting ideas out there... that helps a lot!

My brain still isn't working up to par... very very frustrating... Exhaustion has let up a little so I have some hope my brain fog will clear eventually.. But for once I actually know where my story is going for the next several scenes, but finding the words to describe the scenes is like pulling teeth.. Absolutely excruciating.. having background distractions, which are there throughout the day with my toddler just makes it that much harder..and at night, I need to go to bed with him, because of the exhaustion.. So, to be on track, I only need to write 4,000 words today... That won't happen.. even spreading the words I'm behind out through out the month so I only have to do 1880 words or so each day may be pushing it... but I'll try..

Good luck everyone... keep plodding away.. and remember, this is supposed to be fun!!!

Hi everyone

I have been MIA for 10 days... and I wrote maybe 600 words while I was gone. My mum took a sudden turn for the worse and I had to pack, and DS and I jumped on a plane with four hours notice. I didn't make it home in time and missed saying goodbye by about 6 hours. It was a whirlwind ten days... 14 hour flight, followed by immediate planning for her funeral as soon as we arrived at the house, notifying friends and family and finding something to wear... I left here last Sunday, arrived on Tuesday morning, and did not stop until Saturday when I hit a wall. It's amazing how you can run on adrenaline. I haven't had time to grieve and it still feels so surreal. But I haven't been in the mood to write and while I was ahead when I left (on track for 75K) I am now a whopping 12K+ behind. I need to catch up and make it 50K cause I want Scrivener at 50% off!

Bella Catalina--- many many gentle hugs. .. I am so very sorry for your loss... I'm proud of you for wanting to plod on with NaNoWriMo, but please take it easy on yourself.. Take the time you need to grieve.. if you need to put that grief into your writing, if you can..

Praying for you and your family during this difficult time!

I'm so sorry, Bella Catalina.

Mirta, I am drinking a pot of coffee a day. It's awful but it keeps the words coming.

Well, my brain is finally working again!! Hurrah!!! with much much rejoicing on my part!!! My writing is really starting to flow from me again!! It started two nights ago and hasn't stopped! In fact last night I kept getting out of bed to write more and more notes! lol

Last night before I went to bed I gave myself a little push and managed to finally reach 30K!! Still a bit behind but I'm not really complaining since the story is moving forward!! I've already managed to type 1690 words today despite my headache and exhaustion. (that included typing up what I wrote in the wee hours last night) And as I just texted my DH "well at 25 pages I finally wrote the end of my present chapter...now I just need to finish writing the middle! "

Too silly... That's what I get for writing things out of order, ie as I am inspired!

EdnaMarie I'm proud of you for plodding along... what is your word count at now... and how did your move go?... or is that still in the works?

Kym

Mirta, so happy for you! I can't always write in order, either, but I have my trusty outline which keeps me going, even if I'm not happy, I think- It's NaNo, I can re-write!

My word count is high- 62,321 at last update. That's from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. daily, two pages an hour, or more. I am feeling really empowered by this, because it's something I always wanted to do, but for a long time felt I didn't have what I wanted to say together, and now I do, and I'm realizing that I can make time. Squee!

wahoo! after much plodding along today I am now officially caught up on my NaNoWriMo word Count at 33,358 words... and I am still loving writing my novel, which I think is even more important.. Of course now I have to figure out what come next, but that will happen tomorrow! (hopefully!!!) (praying I don't keep getting up to write like last night.. not sure my head or body can handle that!)
