What is your Costco reward this year?

Holy cow!!!! ours is 160.00 :
That pays for the executive membership, 100.00 plus 60.00 extra. Of course that also means that I spent 8,000.00 at costco last year.

WOW..It nearly pays for another trip.

Costco is the bomb!

Ours was around $75.
We bought a couch, it seems every year we have at least one big purchase that makes it worth it to do the executive membership.

Honestly, the extra money for the executive is worth it for us, just because of the hours gained. I am more than willing to pay an extra 50 bucks a year just so I don't have to take the youngest to costco with me. The reward is just gravy.

Of course, my husband just did the math... I think I have some explaining to do.

We just upgraded our regular membership to an executive membership in either late June or early July this year. Either way, we missed our big purchases at Costco already.

However, I went to the services link on Costco's website and signed up for two new accounts where we will receive $125 in bonus money for accounts we already wanted and the bonus was SIGNIFICANTLY higher for executive members versus regular members. That alone more than pays not only for the upgrade, but for the entire year's membership.

Did you have to buy major appliances this past year?

We upgraded to the executive membership several years ago because of how much cheaper the car insurance was through Costco. You can only get insurance if you have executive membership.

Our reward most years is about $75 or 80. Sometimes a bit more. It pretty much pays for our membership each year.

Even without the reward, we save so much on insurance that we'd stay with the upgrade anyway.

It was $30. I did Not renew at that level. I didn't expect I'd spend enough to make up for the difference in the first place, but I guess they let you have a tester year, and they'll give back the difference just that one time, if your "reward" isn't at least $50. We are able to shop at the commissary which is already a good deal on a lot of things, and while I like costco, there's just not THAT much stuff we need to buy in a year in the first place.

$142.30.

$7K at Costco in one year. Yikes. And the only "big ticket" item I can remember purchasing was a $400 cheapie desktop computer.

Who is the underwriter for the auto insurance?

$115

We use both Costco and Sam's Club- I spend equally both places, usually. Getting to go an hour early is worth the Costco Exec. membership to me, even if our reward didn't pay for it. Although, they seem to let everyone with just a Gold Star membership in during the Exec. hours, which pisses DH off, because it's more crowded.

I quit Costco and joined my local co op. I paid 100 for life and get 2 10% off coupons a year 10 5.00 off coupons a year and 2% back. I got about 70.00 dollars back this year. I feel much better spending my money at a co op than Costco...just wanted to put this out there because Costco is nice and all but they really carry a lot of processed food and low quality meat. And almost no local. Remember if all the world lived like a typical American...

Depends on where you live.. We live in the NW, alot of the products are very much local for us.

Also, in terms of what we buy there, and how we spend our money.. we chose to spend at costco rather than some of the other box stores because of labor relations.

Going to look into the insurance.. we have been with Allstate for eons.. my husband has never had another insurance agency, his dad retired from allstate 10 years ago.. i think it is safe to leave.

We have the costco amex and use it a LOT. We pay bills with it (that accepts amex) and always pay it off each month. We never spend what we don't have, we just put it on the costco amex to get the reward points. This year we got about $400 back but the year before we almost hit the max (I think it was $550?)

I checked into the insurance today, thanks to the PP.

I compared apples to apples by reading down my current policies. My current carrier (State Farm) is lower than Costco's carrier (Ameriprise for CA; it may vary) by $41 every six months. They were unable to write a policy for our homeowner's insurance and did not give me a quote. I will say the rep I spoke with was very personable and it was a pleasant call, unlike other years when I call around to check our insurance coverage. State Farm has "won" every year for around 15 or so years now, but I do check every year or every other year to make sure they are still competitive.

Our car insurance is through Ameriprise also. It is lower than anyone else by several hundred dollars a year. When we first joined, maybe 9 or so years ago, it was through Traveler's and we were paying less for 2 cars than we did for one through Allstate.

There is a maximum cash back on your Amex? Or is this something linked with the executive membership? I was told that cash back rewards for our Amex are unlimited but we've never got close to $550 anyway, lol. We're usually more in the $200 ballpark.

I just googled. Looks like you are right. No limit.

We have gotten some fun things with our rebate. One year was a lawn mower, one year it paid for 1/2 of our computer, one year it was half of our flat screen. The past two years we were poor so it went to groceries, lol. Did you know that if you go in with your rebate check and buy something that is less than the check they will give you the rest in cash?

We use our AMEX as much as possible. Dp even put some of his mom's purchases on it. He went to help her pick out and move a few big ticket items like a refrigerator. He paid for it with the AMEX and she gave him a check.

We shop at Costco a ton...but ours was $0. We have a free membership through DH's work so we don't get any rewards. Now I'm wondering if it might be better to just foot the bill for our own membership instead lol!

If you go to Customer service they will cash the whole thing for you.
No need to spend it there, which is nice.
