We're north of Toronto and just outside of Orillia. It's still considered a rural community, but it's only 10 minutes outside of the city of Orillia. We are along Lake Simcoe, but our house is on the opposite side of the street for a lakefront home. The cost of a home on the other side of the street facing us (all lakefront properties) is about $300,000 more than what we paid. We've got some NICE neighbors.
The house was actually a cottage that was converted into a house 10 years ago, so it's small and still has the "cottage" feel to it. It's perfect for us, though, and what we wanted - very modest but on a larger lot so lots of backyard space for Rayne. It also needs a LOT of work!
We call it our construction zone right now. We are hoping to move in mid-August, but we're still waiting on new flooring (the old stuff had to be torn up because the cat pee smell was so bad!) and getting my workshop built in. I have a detached warehouse which will be awesome for working out of. I can actully "go" to work now - a *big* deal for DH!
Anyway, it's keeping us busy right now, that's for sure!
