Breastfeeding+Heat=ery ill mommy/very cranky dd

I'm at a loss...dd is 7.5 months and JUST b/fs VERY little solids and what she does get isn't enough for calories(a small piece of watermelon to gum on ect)...not to mention she's a monster and nurses more the every 2 hours from 6 am until 7 30 then wakes up about 3 times at night

This heat is making us both miserable. She's covered in heat rash from being up against me nursing. And she's nursing so much b/c of the heat that I'm super ill...having major dizzy spells, nausea, headache. Total dehydration mode! No matter how much water I drink/eat fresh foods it's just not helping. I know I've lost more weight, but thank goodness my supply's not gone down. I'm really at a loss....

I don't knw if there's a better version of something like gatorade, but when I feel like you do, I drink it.

it helps.

oh, and I eat salty foods. I think nursing makes us so thirsty we can throw our water balance off. Calcium and magnesium help too.

try side lying nursing, maybe she wouldn't be so ON you?

HTH.

Can you have a fan blow over you while you nurse? Can you both be naked or close to naked? I live in FL so I know what heated nursing is like=not fun!

I actually find I want to have more clothes on, because ds's sweaty body touching me while he nurses makes me feel crazy!

I make mother's milk tea into iced tea with a little honey and drink that. Also "recharge" is the "natural" alternative to gatorade

I also find that I do not eat enough when its hot, so then I am cranky and dizzy etc. I just try to force myself to eat. Smoothies really help with that. A green smoothie with yogurt and lots of fruit helps me with protein and fruits and veggies.
