couple of suggestions

would it be possible to get a sub-forum in the SN forum for biomed? the SN forum is not really a safe place to ask biomed questions, and i often find myself going elsewhere for support. i also see people making disclaimers on the forum when they want to post a biomed question, as in "please don't flame me" or "this isn't to start a debate" and i literally never see any other topic preceded by a disclaimer. i, personally, never post biomed questions there for that reason alone.

also, another wonderful sub-forum in the SN forum, and really appreciated, would be a therapy forum - a forum where we could discuss different therapy techniques and share advice and information - like ABA, RDI, Floortime, sign language, ST, OT, PT, etc. so many of us are doing therapies with our kids, it would really help to have a sub-devoted to therapy alone.

the SN forum is so diverse, i really think some sub-forums would help to provide more focus and better support.

thanks for your consideration

Thank you for your suggestions. We aren't currently adding forums/subforums but I will add it to the list I have of suggestions.

If there is "flaming" due to people asking a "biomed" question that is not at all appropriate. The SN guidelines are very clear,

There are many different theories behind possible "causes" for certain conditions. Mothering is not going to support one theory over another and debate on such issues will not be hosted in the SN forum. MDC will also not host debate regarding different treatments and supplements.
So if this is happening please report it to the mods or let an administrator know.

There are gradations of welcome to not welcome to hostile. I'm chelating my kids and I've never asked anything in SN because I think at best I'd get a deafening silence. I don't want to cause pain in that forum, it seems like a lot of parents have been hurt, it's not just any ol' forum. We have a Chelating Mamas thread here at MDC, it's in the Dental subforum, but it's not very active. Even someone recently asking a question in Health & Healing about chelation and young children started it with the qualifier that they didn't want to be attacked, but they would like information.

Is there another place that would be a good place for a thread like that?

FuzzyOne, my kids aren't SN, we have health-related stuff that is metals/chelation related, but only a little behavior stuff, and no diagnoses. With that as a disclaimer (so I'm not in your shoes, and some of your concerns I could sympathize with but probably not offer a lot of concrete helpful suggestions for), would a support-only thread in Health & Healing be close enough to what you need? I struggled when trying to decide whether to chelate the kids and having some people to "talk" it through with would've been great. I don't know if other parents from SN would pop down to H&H to join, I don't know if it would stay on-topic enough for your needs to make it worth the effort, but I wanted to throw it out. Feel free to ignore me or PM me or respond here, whatever you prefer.
