infant prefolds and ?

I'm considering cloth diapers. We hope to adopt domestically (so I can't make any guesses about size of baby at birth), and I plan to use disposables for the first couple of weeks, and will likely use disposables for outings and travel. My main motivation is to save money. I also want it to be simple, and I especially want to make the laundry part as easy as possible. I'm guessing I'd wash diapers every other day.

So, I am thinking about buying 24 of the clearance infant prefolds from Little Lions. I was thinking those would be the day time diapers. Then I thought maybe 6 fitteds for night time? Is that a good plan? What kind of fitteds? And how many covers and what kind? I'd like to buy everything from one place and was planning on Little Lions. . . .

Thanks for any suggestions!

i would suggest a fitted with a stay dry type of material for night time.....maybe the thirsties fab fitteds? also these are great one size covers, since you wont know the size of the baby.

Me again.

So, I'm thinking of getting 2 small swaddlebees fleece covers to go over the fitteds for night and 4 thirsties duo size ones to use over infant prefolds for daytime. . . .

I would have to order from two places as LLs doesn't sell the thirsties, but I thought it might be worth it to get the extended size range in the duo. They do sell Blueberry coveralls, which are one size, but says they fit 10 pounds to 40--that doesn't seem quite small enough to start at about 2 weeks?

What do you think?

those bbs looks super nice! im not a huge thirsties fan and have seen the duos, i dont think the smaller size will fit a baby well that is much smaller than 10 lbs, either. i feel like thirsties do run on the larger side, so i doubt the bb coverall is any larger. jmo tho

for a nb that is much smaller than 9 or 10 lbs, i would get some proraps nb if you are worried about them being too bulky, although im sure you can make do if the bulk doesnt bother you.

I've actually been using the Thirsties Duo cover on my nb, who was 7lb 3oz at birth. Snapped all the way down, they were a little too big until the cord stump fell off (it was hard to keep it below the stump), but worked pretty well and still fit well snapped all the way down or one snap down (he is 9lb 5oz now), depending on what diaper we have underneath.

The 2 fleece covers you mentioned for night with 4 Thirsties during the day should be fine! Prefolds are a great option and they are pretty low maintenance for washing.

Don't forget you'll want wetbags for the diaper bag (2 is nice), a diaper pail/liner, wipes, snappis or pins...what else...

Don't forget to look into detergent if you haven't already. Here's a nice link.
