I usually always do. It may be something as simple as a couple Hershey's kisses, or a cookie. I make sure that if they scarf that first they still have time and room to eat something else. The old school had the "no candy" rule and honestly I didn't really care. First off, they load my kid up on Fruity Pebbles at 10 am whether I agreed or not, and second off, as it's a public school, I didn't feel it was their right to make the parenting decision of what my child could have for lunch.

If I have it at home. I usually don't keep things like that in the house though. When dd takes her lunch it's a sandwich, some chips/crackers and some type of fruit.

I always packed fruit leathers and it got to the point that I had parents calling to find out what these "fruit leathers" are and where could they get them. Whatever. We even brought them in on DD's bday treat and the teacher commented she thought they were a great idea.

A treat for my kids would be the Just strawberries from the Just tomatoes line. They will literally pig out on these. LOL If that is in the lunchbox, wow I am the greatest mom ever. But since they are quite spendy and between coops, we have to wait for them.

My kids get a sweet (usually a homemade cookie) in their lunch about once a week. I would also consider something like chips to be a treat, but I almost never send those to school.
