Detergent Questions

Thread Starter
I'm currently using Charlie's Soap; I've also used Allens and Country Save in the past. They're all pretty much fine for diapers (though Allens was my least favorite) but I'm finding none of them are really great for clothes, especially my husband's sweaty undershirts and gym clothes. In the past I tried a homemade detergent with Borax, Washing Soda, and Fels Naptha - my husband liked it best for his clothes but it built up on our diapers so I had to stop using it.

I'm wondering if I should add Borax or Washing Soda to my wash with the Charlie's, in order to clean DH's clothes better, and if so, which one and how much. We have a front-loader.

I've also heard another recipe for a diaper-friendly homemade detergent with Borax, Washing Soda, and Oxyclean Free. Has anyone tried this? How did you like it? Is it fine for all laundry or just diapers?

If it matters, we use prefolds and BG's. TIA for any replies

You could add Bac-Out. It's a natural disinfectant and would probably get the dirt/sweat off.

I love this link for detergent reference: http://www.diaperjungle.com/detergent-chart.html

We cloth diapered for 7 years (thru three kiddos) and I tried a lot of detergents. I also wanted one I could use for regular laundry, too. I LOVED SensiClean. It is the exact same stuff as Sport-Wash (which used to? be sold at Walmart) and is designed for STINKY clothes from football jerseys, hunting clothes, to diapers. I asked the company why the same product had two names and they said it was because one is marketed towards sportsmen and athletes and the other towards babies and moms, lol.

Here's the link: http://www.atsko.com/products/laundr...iritation.html $7

I wrote to the company to buy in bulk since I was paying shipping. So I'd buy a box of 6 and I believe they gave me a wholesale discount. It was worth it!

I use Charlies' also, not only for CDs but for everything. In my clothes I add some oxyclean, and so far it has worked well
