what lotion for under-neck baby roll rash?

I've tried like heck to figure out the best place to put this...sorry if this isn't the best forum. But here goes...

My dd, 7 mos. old, EBF, keeps getting a rash in the folds under her neck. It smells yeasty to me & I'm trying to think of something I can put on it that is natural, but also keeps the yeasties away. I've tried shea butter with a couple drops of GSE mixed in with adequate results, but it comes back pretty quickly. Wiping with soap & water does not work. I've thought about cornstarch or something dry, but I'm afraid the corn sugars would actually feed the yeast.

I decided maybe there was something on the market already for just this issue? Or, WWYD?

It has been quite a few years since my not-so-little one was that age, but I would recommend looking at what you are eating to see if you can eliminate whatever may be causing the rash/reaction in your EBF infant. The skin is our (humans) biggest organ and it generally reflects what is going on inside the body.

Thank you! I think you're right that it's partly my nutrition. I am eating well in most respects (no chemicals in my food, good amount of protein & wapf-approved fats, whole grains, fresh veggies, no fast food or crud like that) BUT I'm also eating too many sweets. And I can't get myself to stop. I'm trying, but it's an up-down, better some days than others kind of thing. I know it is feeding her yeast, how could it not? So, while I work at avoiding sweets, I still need to help out her rash in a topical way.

I have had some luck with using unflavored unsweetened yogurt on my skin yeast issues. I would probably rub it on my baby then rinse it off well during his bath if he were having an issue like this.

My son was a real chubby baby and I remember being disgusted the first time I saw his neck "cheese". For him, the problem was milk dripping in the crease and me not knowing enough to really spread open the folds when I wiped him down or bathed him. Once you discover the problem, it's fairly easy to prevent the cheese and rash - thorough cleaning and baby powder, every day...especially during the summer months. We like California Baby's non-talc powder:

In the meantime, for the rash, I absolutely love Angel Baby Bottom Balm, from Earth Mama Angel Baby. I use it for everything from diaper rash to cuts and scrapes. I even tried it on a hot spot my dog had developed recently, which healed in just a few days. I have a full size that I keep in the changing table, and a trial size inthe diaper bag and in my purse.

I always used diaper rash cream for this. Desitin cleared it right up but I'm sure any old (or natural) diaper rash cream will do this.

Along the same lines as the yogurt - you may consider sprinkling acidophilous (sp?) on the affected area. Rashes like you describe are often yeast-based and the probiotics will help get the yeast back in balance.

I had the same problem when #2 was super chubby after a super skinny #1. I did not even think to keep an extra eye on that area. The ped said cornstarch, I used some baby powder (put in in my hand, and wiped the area). I also started checking it as part of our diaper changing routine so I'd remember it.
