after refusing to have my water broken after i failed to progress during my scheduled induction i headed home to try and let things take there own course, the following monday i was scheduled to come in for a nst and my doctor decided to check me to see if i had progressed at all on my own, i was still at 3-4 and 85% effaced and she said she could see my water bag bulging (which freaked me out a little lol) she decided she still didnt want me to go full term and rescheduled me to go in the following sunday to be induced again, ( i would be a day short of 39 weeks) i agreed to it and went home
that night i woke up at 3am with a strange dreamy dazed feeling and went to go sit outside, there was the strangest feeling in the air and i sat there for a while trying to figure out just what it was. i awoke hours later after heading back to sleep at about 11am a nd got up and when i stood my water broke suddenly, i was shocked.
i laughed to myself because i knew just like before it was my babies way of saying "HEY ill be the one to choose my birthday thank you very much!"
i headed to the hospital around 3pm and was started on pit around 6 because my labor hadnt started on its own
my favorite midwife jennifer was luckily on call, i made it to 6-7 and recieved an epidural after that i sat and talked with my mom and aunts who had been there with me every step of the way about an hour and a half later i started to tell my mom i was feeling a great deal of pressure and thought jennifer should come and check me, my mom essured me that i did not go from 6 to 10 that quickly and id still be there for quite a while and to just relax...i tried but something just told me know i need her to come back, the nurse came in and told me that it would be a while and i should just try to relax, once again i tried but just felt i needed her to come back so they called her to humor me, she came and told me i was 9 and she had someone else to check in on but she'd be back in about 12 minutes (this time frame was given to me to keep me calm im sure) to see where im at, when she came back about 18-20 mins later she said i was ready to deliver the baby! I WAS SHOCKED!
she lead me through and told me ways to position my self and a couched me through every step of the way, my mom and aunt helped hold my legs while my other aunt (unknowingly to me) video taped the event.
i had no problem pushing or feeling the pressure with the epidural, my midwife offered me a mirror so i could watch, i told her i was unsure about this and thought it might make me freak out, she told me she'd get it and i could have it if i decided i wanted it, it turns out i did and i could see push for push my baby coming a little closer to me, my midwife used warm compresses (which she even added my lavender oil to to help calm and relax me) and message along with having me slow down my pushing when her head was coming, when she was finally being delivered she helped me reach down and lift her out onto my chest, they didnt use that thing to suck the stuff out of her mouth, instead they let her cry and do what babies bodies are ment to do and absorb it right into her system, i didnt tear at all and needed no stiches i got to sit and enjoy my beautiful new baby while they collected her cord blood she was 6lb 10oz 20in long, born at 6:04am
an hour later she latched on and started her first meal, she was a natural and did so without me even trying to help her which amazed me!
she was born during the persied meteor shower
and he birthday turned out to be 8-12-09 which i love because mine is 2-21-90 so there exactly six months apart, and the day and year are reversed!
and thats the stroy of how my little Luna came to meet us!
sorry its so long lol
