He was born yesterday morning at 1:49 am in our birth pool inside our birth canopy on our back deck. The whole family watched as he emerged into the world.
:
Sullivan Joseph weighed 8 lbs 10 ozs, 20 inches long, and with a quite large 14.65 inch head! Labor was kinda long and drawn out in the easy early stages (my midwife says that happens a lot with homebirths when there are lots of kids in the house) then got intense at the end. Pushing was much harder than my last two who just slid out - it must have been his big ole' head!! I did remain intact however - gotta love water birth!
We are all enjoying him very much. Oh and I was 40 + 5 (just barely). I went into labor on my own which I was very much worried about. Last two kids were at home prostaglandin gel "inductions" due to pre-birth depression issues at 41 + 1 and 41 + 3. Hooray for Sullivan coming on his own terms!
I'll add some pics later today.
