So, I really wana leave our little guy bare bottomed at home but I'm wondering what to do about when he is gassy (all the time) and leaves little "skid marks"? Even with a disposable diaper on him after letting him pee I don't wana put a marked up diaper back on him and so I end up just throwing it away anyway. Thus not doing any good. I read in the sticky that one of the moms refolds her reusable diaper over and over but I don't use those. Any of you gals care to share what you do when babes has no diaper on?

I don't know about diaperless, but if you line his diaper with a piece of toilet paper when you put it on then you can ditch the tp instead of the entire diaper if it has skid marks.

I was thinking about some kind of insert as well. I don't know about nakey bum, either. You can always just try and see what happens!

Sometimes it takes awhile to get an answer. I know I read posts and don't always have an answer til later when I'm nursing or something, an idea pops into my head. Then if it's still there when I get back to the computer, I'll post my idea.

I was under the impression that there was no answer. T's constantly got a skid marked butt. When I let him go naked i put a cloth under his bottom and its dirty within 5 min. I was just hopping someone had a miracle up there sleeve. I'll start w/ the TP for sure...hopefully later on we'll figure something out to be able to go diaper less. thanks ladies.

I carry her around nakey-butt with a prefold under her - so yeah, a washcloth would be the same deal. The toilet paper idea sounds good too.

We diaper all the time, but I have the same issue. I hate to throw a diaper away for just a tiny stain. So i ordered some diaper liners from a cloth diaper web site. But I think those are made more for solid poops, because they were kind of thick and liquid went right through them. Not very soft on his butt, either. I'll save them for when he's older, I guess.

Now, if we have a little stain, I just fold a facial tissue and lay it down in the diaper. It protects him from the stain, and helps save a diaper.

Once he gets the hang of the potty, you might have less skid marks during your naked time. He could be releasing a little at a time waiting until he can't hold it any more. Who knows, though? It sounds like every kid is so different!

You gals are so smart! The TP idea is workin out good enough for now; just untill we can let him go with no diaper! And Kathy I think your right, he'll probaly have an easier time once him and his body figure things out. If you have any more ideas down the road throw em out there!!! Thanks again!

update: I learned if it takes your baby 30+ minutes to poop (while crying) DO NOT hold him mid way through with a cloth under his bottom that is not aduquit to hold diareah. Furthermore, my reflexes have slowed since I became a mom, reflected by the urine covered walls and floor from my bedroom all the way to the bathroom... what a learning experience this morning.

LOL, it happens. If it's any consolation, it happens less as you go along. We took my son to the chiropractor yesterday. My husband took him out to the car to potty him. He made the mistake of taking his diaper off before he had the potty set up. He and the diaper bag got soaked. ;-) Luckily, he had brought an extra shirt. We find that it's best not to prepare the baby verbally or physically if we're not ready! I'm going shopping today with the baby for the first time. Wish me luck!

Oh, and he's less likely to pee if he's up against you when you're carrying him!

Thats too funny; thanks for sharring that makes me feel better. Hope the shopping went well. I actuallly was holding him in my arms ready to put him on the potty this morning (moving a bit slow) and he began to pee and although I pointed him toward the potty that didn't actually make the pee go in the potty. Its was like raining pee in my bedroom. I'm so thankful for my hardwood floors.

Hi! my DS left skid marks.. all day long.. we called him the shart king...
Now that he has started eating solids and he is almost 8 mos-- no sharting! it is awesome! I had the same problem with what to do with a clean diaper and a little skiddie... I just gave up and kept him nakey all the time. It has worked out great. Now, I just have to figure out how to take him out of the house without a diaper-- he still pees every 15 min it seems like.
