retracting a circ'ed penis?

Okay- so I was answering a question about intact care and one of my online friends said that she gently 'pulled back' on her circ'ed son to clean underneath the leftover skin with water. After reading my post, she wants to know if she shouldn't be doing this. My first instinct is no, because you wouldn't do so with an intact penis, but am I right since her little one is already circ'ed? Does retracting what's left of foreskin after circ still have the same effect?

The baby care guidelines that I saw, said that you should wipe under the remaining skin to prevent re-attaching. I don't know if that's right or not, though.

I admit, it feels kind a weird coming to TCAC forum to ask about circ care : I'm glad my little man is intact so I don't have to deal with these 'weird' issues myself.

Ditto, I have an intact son too. I'm glad that I've never had to deal with leftover foreskin or adhesions or anything.

I would think that it would be pretty easy for poop etc. to get under the foreskin remnant on a circed penis, because it isn't sealed to the glans any more the way the foreskin on an intact penis would normally be. Circumcised boys can sometimes get inflammations of the penis because its harder to get the nooks and crannies around the foreskin remnant clean. If he does have a remnant and its easily retracted, I'd think retracting and rinsing under there with baths would be a reasonable idea.

If it has readhered to the glans it should be left alone. If it moves easily and there isnt much of it then moving it back wont cause any harm. The general rule is to leave it alone though and let nature repair what has been done. Depending on how much skin is left it can readhere to the glans again and then release as it would have naturally.
