carageenan and eczema

Has anyone seen eczema as a reaction to carageenan? Living Harvest hempmilk has changed their recipe : and dd started drinking the new stuff Monday night. I noticed this afternoon that she is itching her neck and it now has a red patch which I assume is her eczema I know that some have GI issues with carageenan, but wondering if eczema is also possible.

On a side note....why oh why do these companies change their recipe?? I wanted to try corn this week with dd because we were getting corn from the farmer's market and she really wanted the corn on the cob. But, since our stash of the old recipe hempmilk was gone we had to hold off on the corn to trial the new milk : Anyway, I am pretty annoyed with Living Harvest.

On another note, there is a silver lining to this, imo. I was never too keen with dd drinking something with every meal that seemed to have so much artificial stuff in it. This change has prompted me to order a 5lb bag of hemp seeds and I am now going to start making her milk. The only issue is, her homemade milk will not be fortified and I will have to find an acceptable sweetener. So, I guess down the road I am going to have to look for some supplements...in the meantime I will make sure she gets plenty of veggies with calcium (which I already do) and gets out in the sun for her Vit D. Vit B12 will have to wait. Ugh, always something to worry about.

I think any food can cause any reaction in any child. My two kids have different reactions to corn, different reactions to soy, etc. My DD2 can't have carageenan/kelp/seaweed, but her's is a wake up and scream all night reaction. Her only eczema reaction is corn. And DS doesn't get eczema from anything. So if that's your child's reaction to the hemp milk and the only change was the carageenan, then it sounds like it's the carageenan.

Well, without looking at the 2 labels, I can't say for sure it isn't the only change, but it is the one that really stuck out. Plus, I would have no way of saying for sure without contacting the company because who knows if they also changed their vitamin sources.

This whole thing has also brought another issue to the forefront. Since I have trialled DD with coconut and she failed it, she has been getting little hives every time she gets a bath (well, almost every time). I use CA Baby wash on her and their lotion. Tonight I put some of the lotion on her eczema and she popped out a couple of hives and got redder Anyway, some of the ingredients are derived from coconut. So, now I am left with finding alternatives for washing and moisturizing her I am sick because I love the CA Baby stuff. In the beginning when her eczema was so bad, this stuff brought her great relief, now it is one of the culprits I guess I will wash her with an olive oil soap and moisturize her with olive oil. Right now, I am not quite sure how I will wash her hair, but perhaps I will start doing for her what I do for myself, baking soda wash with apple cider vinegar rinse.

my daughter reacts to carageenan. The hemp bliss brand doesn't contain carageenan, but does contain xantham gum if you have a problem with that.

She was fine with the old formula Living Harvest which had xanthan gum, so I assume she is ok with it. I am just going to start making it. I just feel like the more I make for her from single ingredients the better.

Well, she has also had really loose stools the last couple of days as well...FUN! I am pretty sure it is related to the hempmilk. Hopefully this will all be over soon for my little trooper
