Grow your own saffron!!!

Apparently, saffron is easy to grow! I just stumbled upon this info today. I'm sooo excited about it! I love to cook with saffron, but I rarely do, considering that it's the most expensive spice in the world (literally!).

I'll be ordering some bulbs from Peaceful Valley next month! Yay!

Does anyone grow these flowers? I'm trying to figure out where I'm going to plant them, and I'm not finding any companion planting info on them...

They're a crocus - so they're bulbs. Something to keep in mind though if you're growing them to harvest your own saffron is that it takes a LOT of them to get any appreciable amount. Each flower will only give you a couple stamens, and once dried they don't amount to a whole lot each.
