Pikkolo waist support belt?

Do you have one? How early did you start using it? My babe is 13 pounds, and maybe I haven't developed my baby wearing muscles enough, but the Pikkolo is starting to really pull on my neck and shoulders. Would the waist support belt help this, or is it just another expensive accessory that won't really make a difference?

It seems like I am holding DD up with only my shoulders and upper back, and there is very little weight distributed to my hips/waist. Am I doing something wrong?

I bought the waist support belt when I got my Pikkolo (6 months ago) but haven't got round to using it yet! FWIW my DD is 19lb and I'm able to carry her for an hour or so before she starts to feel heavy (and I'm no gym bunny!). How long are you wearing the Pikkolo before it starts digging in at the shoulders?

It sounds like maybe you aren't tightening the belt tight enough or perhaps you'd benefit from wearing the belt lower down so it rests on the top of your hips? Another issue may be not having the straps tight enough. It sounds counterintuitive but tightening the crossover shoulder straps brings the baby closer to your body and reduces the "pull" on your shoulders.

I'll definitely be attaching the belt soon - at 19lbs she's about the limit of what is comfortable without the extra support IMO.

sounds like your baby is sitting too far from you in the carrier. your babe should be snug against you. try adjusting the straps both ways, closer to the carrier or closer to the shoulder straps.
hope that makes sense. ;-)

This advice worked for me. Much more comfortable. Thanks

Doesn't work for me. I've had that Pikkolo so tight it's made my stomach hurt. I've actually tried loosening it, and it's helped a *little*. I have yet to figure out those straps and how they adjust...can't find my perfect fit yet, I guess.

you could try...
crossing the straps in the back. to form a X
using the chest clip (i have yet to use mine my ds dont need to be carried that much any more but he is 40lb)
changing where you have the waist strap- right at your natural waist, above or below.
having straps tighter or looser.
also by pulling one or the other on each shoulder strap will change the fit. (pull the strap tight on the carrier and tighten the shoulder strap the reverse it by pulling on the strap on the carrier more then the strap)
