Ergh. So I'm not ALLERGIC. Now what???

Skin test and blood test both show NOTHING. Which is exactly what happened with my skin test 15 years ago.

So I'm not "allergic" according to the doctor's tests. But intolerance vs allergic doesn't change why I finally sought additional info!

I've been latex sensitive since I was probably 3 years old. My 2 year old shows the same signs. I was hoping to find out if there were any additional food sensistivities that were related so I can avoid them for my son as well!

Also, my soy intolerance has progressed to the point where now my tongue, mouth and throat swells up. More than trace amounts now feel like my mouth is burnt...all swollen up. I've been label watching and I am discovering soy in things I never thought to look at before! No wonder my tolerance got less!!

Anyway, after the negative skin test, she gave me an epi-pen just in case and said to use anti-histomines if I needed them. Then ran the blood test. Nuthin.

I'm so frustrated. I'm pretty much exactly where I started out. With the exception of the epi-pen...which I'll probably never use.

I'm going to have to go 100% unprocessed essentially...which is fine. I accept that. I don't have TIME but I acknowledge the necessity. But I really wanted to know what to avoid that's related to latex. I can't pinpoint it from the general lists...it's practically every fruit and veg ever! And I haven't had reactions I've noticed. But then, I thought my soy-induced swollen tongue was hypochondria for the past year. I need to be healthy for my son since we'll be on our own soon. And more importantly, I want to know what he should avoid so that he can grow up without more severe allergies! Latex and soy are EVERYWHERE! Much more than they used to be!!

I'd appreciate some advice of what to try next. I thought I was going the right route...an allergy clinic (conveniently covered by my insurance). Apparently this isn't going to give me the information I need.

The nurse that just delivered the "clean bill of health" message to me got an earful to go back to the doctor, but I don't expect I'll hear back with anything definitive.

ps. They called back with the name of a specialist at the University to do further testing re: intolerances.

Still frustrated. But maybe this will help. I just hope it's covered by insurance!!!
