BG Organic Question

At least, I'm pretty sure that's what I have (MIL got them for me so I'm not 100%...but it matches the picture)

Anyway, my DS is a heavy wetter. He's been that way since birth (I had no idea that an infant bladder could hold so much) When we put him in one of these it's good for a single pee (about an hour) and then he's soaked and upset.

Now, I got some of the pocket kind second hand from a friend...if I put one of those on him it seems to last longer. And I can stretch that time even more if I slip a diaper doubler in there.

Is it just a difference in make and model? Or is something wrong with my organic ones?

how many times have you washed it? many diapers need to be washed several times before they reach a good absorbancy. i dont have any of the bg organic dipes though, so im not sure how many times they should be washed.

He may like the pocket diapers better because he doesn't feel the wetness. The pocket diapers have either fleece or microsuede next to his skin to wick the moisture away into the insert so that the baby always feels dry. The BumGenius One Size Organic AIO's don't have that. They have the organic cotton next to the baby's skin. It should hold more than one pee though. As the pp said, it does take a few washes to reach full absorbancy. Overall, for heavy wetters, I like the pocket diapers a bit better because you can customize the absorbancy a bit more easily. You could try putting a diaper doubler in the bumgenius OS OG. That would help boost the absorbancy.

With the organics, or anything that has a natural fiber (cotton, bamboo, hemp, etc.) you need to make sure to wash it several times in hot water to get the natural oils out, or they won't absorb as well. The BG organics are also not designed to pull the wetness away like pockets are, so it may seem more wet. The organics are super absorbent, but they don't hold the wetness away like pockets do. The pockets hold the wetness in the insert.
