mama's who are still pregnant THERE IS HOPE

So I never thought I would be the person to say this but to those who are wary and have not tried it yet...I used castor oil and it worked fantastically!

I called my midwife Saturday morning because I went to the store and checked my bp while I was there and it was running consistently 140s over 90s. She came over and checked it several times but each time it was still elevated so she asked if she could check me to see if I was making any progress towards going into labor anytime soon. She checked me and let me know I was a good 4cm and as much as she didn't like to suggest it if i hadn't had any regular contraction patterns by the evening I could give castor oil a try. So by 8pm I had decided I would take her advice for fear of my bp staying consistently high and having to transfer care I took 1.5oz in a glass of cold rootbeer and stirred while I drank through a straw EXACTLY like my mw had suggested and I didn't taste a thing it went straight down without a problem like little bits of ice.

Soooo TMI but in definitely cleaned me out but that was nice because hey I was about to push out a posterior asynclitic baby! By 11pm I was having regular contractions and at 1am the mw came over. My water broke at 3:40ish and Zeke was born at 8:30am Sunday morning!

I just wanted to say something to the mama's that were waiting impatiently because I can see some of you mama's are miserable or about to lose your dream birth and I don't want to see any sad mama's!

Hope this might help some of you.

My midwives said they haven't had to transfer someone for being overdue in forever because they found a castor oil method that doesn't fail. I'm not sure which one it is, but when I asked about the risk of going overdue and transferring out, they just laughed and said "That doesn't happen anymore."

Then again, I've also spoken to several women who've said their attempt with castor oil failed.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I would love for it to work this time but with ds it failed for me twice.. that being said there was alot of emotional work left undone last time.... I may end up trying this method again sometime next week.

I am in a similar situation and have been working with my MW to get this baby out before my bp gets any higher. My final dose of herbas and castor oil are on board, I'm pumping for nipple stimulation and doing whatever I can to get this baby moving out. Here's hoping!

happy it worked for you but it is like any other induction method, it doesn't work for everyone or all the time. Anyone practitioner who says it does just got lucky in IMHO.

I know it doesn't work for everyone but I also know there are people who are hesitant to even try it like I was because it might not work there might be meconium etc. etc.
I just wish all of you the dream birth you desired.
