Would you leave a cat home alone... - Page 2

My son and family go out of town a lot and I do go over daily and feed and water their cat and also spend some time with her. We are a family of worry warts, so we couldn't bear to leave her alone that long in case something happened. What if she fell off the stair landing (where she lays on top of the rail) or caught her leg in something, or the house caught fire and no one knew...... see we worry too much! :-)

when my boys ate dry food, we'd leave them for that length of time with no problems. Now that they're on wet/sometimes raw, we have a neighbor come by to feed them.

I agree that it's nice, but not necessary. If your cats love attention, then maybe having someone come play with them on Saturday night would be nice.

We leave our three cats alone on weekends sometimes. They're totally fine. As people said before, just leave out plenty of food and water. I also like to leave the TV or a radio on so they don't feel totally alone. Another little thing I like to do is to leave treats in funky places I know the cats go to often. So if they sleep behind the couch, I'll leave a treat. Then, when I come home I check the places to see if the treats have been eaten. I don't know, it just makes me feel better to know they were rewarded even when I'm not there.

For a long amount of time (like this Labor Day holiday) we do get a friend or a petsitter to come check in on the kitties, though.

Yes I would. We've left our cats alone for 7 nights no problem.
