I just wanted to give you a brief introduction! I am not a new mom, thus my username,"Evolvamama!" Meaning...my mothering and my womanhood is always Evolving.
I have two kids aged 12 and 8. One boy, one girl. I breastfed them both way past their fourth birthdays, used cloth diapers, shared our family bed, choose not to vaccinate, and overall use gentle discipline. In a nutshell, we have almost always used the attachment parenting approach. I suppose our exception, is that at times I have used yelling, bribery,threats,etc.. to try to get my kids to behave. I can say, that we've never,ever spanked our kids! That's huge for me, as I have a hot temper, and was raised in a violent home. Thankfully my husband was never spanked-and he was really the one to lay down the rules of no spanking. I'm so glad he did, because even though my discipline attempts haven't been near perfect, our kids aren't afraid of us-and both think it is very wrong to hit another person. (Other benefits,too!)
That's it! I joined to peruse the education, vaccination, and health forums-but am eager to visit the many other ones also.
