nursing and anesthesia

I have a tooth that a filling fell out of and part of the tooth is gone too now. I have no idea what they're going to have to do to fix it (crown, new filling, pull it??), but I'm assuming it will involve some kind of anesthesia. Is there anything that isn't safe while nursing or is pretty much anything they'd numb your mouth with ok?

If you require large amounts of novacaine it can make baby a bit fussy, but it's not dangerous....general anesthesia is used in cesareans and is safe in breastfeeding. I wouldn't tell the dentist you are breastfeeding, but if you choose to, pretend to go along with him when he wants you to pump and dump. Dentists tend to be scared of us lactating mamals.

My goodness, the surgeries, oral surgery, crowns, fillings, and root canal I've had while lactating. I wish medical people didn't act like nursing mothers were so fragile. You'll be fine, mama. And your babe will too.

Thanks I'm not sure I'll be fine (I'd rather go through labor again than go to the dentist), but now I know DD will.
