I just got done painting this room, I've been stocking it all spring and summer. I think it's finally ready!

My goal was to make this boring white, but dark basement kitchen into something fun and inspiring.

Holy cow, a whole second kitchen?!?!? My older son would live down there with his cooking experiments.

It looks awesome.

Just so you know, we live in the mountains, where homes are spacious, and many homes seem to have a Mother-in-law house, either right beside the home, or attached, or inside it, and I suppose that is what the builders of our house might have been thinking. Plus, we only have one child, so the library was supposed to be the second child's bedroom. I am not sure we will be able have another child, but I hope to adopt someday.

Anyway, didn't want anyone to think we specifically thought we needed a house with 2 kitchens!

LOL I WANT a house with two kitchens... you know like the 'living' room and family room... one to 'show' but never mess up, and one I actually use hehehe. Ok, so I really don't, but on days like today where we are making zucchini mini quiches (picture shredded zukes and cheese all ovah lol) I would hate for anyone to see my kitchen!

Quite a few places down here have 'flats' in the downstairs (adjacent to the garage) with a small bathroom and kitchenette.. but nothing like yours. Totally jealous!!!!

We actually did want a house with 2 kitchens!

A lot of the homes around here have the MIL area in the basements too. Ds1 can't have a lot of different foods, one of them being gluten. He's very sensitive so we keep our home gluten-free. When we started looking to buy a place, we weren't aware of how many homes had these extra kitchens. Dh is always complaining about not having gluten in the house so when I saw the extra kitchens I said " Look Honey, your very on gluten kitchen!!"
