Did I just mess up?

OK I am brand new to CD. I ordered some red edge diapers from GMD for a 21 lbs 15 month old. I am wondering if I messed up and should have ordered the brown next size up. I did order all medium covers. I am so new to this I don't know anyone else who does it or to try a size out. I am so excited to start using them so I just really am hoping the wrong size doesn't show up. I have been researching for days and got so worried over my order so maybe I just need to stop thinking about it and am fine. But I just keep thinking I order the wrong size. I went back and forth over and over. I just emailed Karen about what I did of course after placing the order. But told her DD size in all I am hoping she emails back saying I am fine. I would really like to not have to pay return shipping.

My red-edge prefolds from GMD measure 12.5 X 15 inches after washing...does that help? I think different batches might shrink slightly differently, but that should give you an estimate of the final size you're going to end up with after washing.

Thanks that does help. Although I don't totally know what size she will be seeing as its all new and first time for everything. But Karen at GMD emailed and said based on DD size that she thought they should work and the others would be to big. So I feel much better now. I am just going to stop thinking about it and figure it out when it gets here. I am to exicted not worth messing that up stressing over sizes.

You could always pre-wash just one diaper - to check the final size. The GMD folks seem pretty nice - I bet they'd let you return the other 11 and just keep the one you used.

I bet they're going to fit, though.

The red edge ones fit nicely in size medium Thirsties covers, in my experience. Even if you can't wrap them totally around your LO's hips, you can still use them with the covers just fine. The only way the width really matters is if you want to Snappi or pin them. The length will certainly work in size medium covers.

Thanks I was hoping we could get by with just try folding however I bought a snappi for night time just incase. But if they dont fit I can always just get some Gerber from Target. DD isn't a heavy wetter at all most times wakes up dry. But at the same time I don't want to gamble and be up changing sheets at night if it just take a little more effort to wrap. Thanks for the responce we will just be learning as we go.

The brown edge will work too. If the red aren't long enough or wide enough, you could probably trifold them without a problem.

Ordering a second dozen might be nice anyway.

Yeah I am thinking I can work something out. I ordered 15. So thought i would was the three not in the dozen and if they don't work just mail them back and go ahead and order the brown. Now its just a waiting game. DD has used the potty twice today. So who knows maybe I really won't need any kind of diaper soon.
