You won't believe this!

My DS just got his foreskin caught in a DVD case. He was having naked time, which I've been doing more of as to facilitate potty learning. Anyway, he cut around one side to the line underneath. Of course being so vascular it bled a lot. I guess it is good he has a foreskin b/c if not he would have cut his glans. I feel so bad for him. We put some prescription bactroban (antibiotic ointment for genitals). I'm sure the otc bacitracin would have worked fine too but the it is more stiff and harder to put on. The bactroban is more liquidy so easier to put on while he is kicking and screaming. Poor guy. Looks like he will be missing all his swim lessons this week.

Wow, who would have ever thought that could be dangerous? But you're right, the foreskin was there, protecting his glans from injury, so that's a plus. I'm sure it will heal up well, and he will be a bit more careful with DVD cases in the future!

Ya know, if you'd just gotten him circed at birth, you could have avoided that trauma. Because my cousin's husband's hairdresser's mechanic's nephew once got HIS foreskin caught in a DVD case and had to be circed as a young boy. So that's why I'm circing MY son, so that will never happen to him.

/sarcasm

Hope your little guy is better soon! It's amazing what kind of scrapes they'll get into.

Poor kiddo. My son did that too. I think he was about 2 years old. Thankfully he didn't bleed. It was just red and sore for a while. He'll be back to normal before you know it though and will probably find more places to stick it.

WHAT?? You mean, cutting the foreskin is a serious wound that requires antibiotics to keep potential infection away!? No way! It's just a little cut... ...I hope your boy is ok soon, and I too am glad he had the foreskin to protect the glans.

I would bold the "sarcasm" part, because some people would nod along to that, and say "see???!!!" lol

: I am sure it will heal fast considering how vascular it is. I am actually amazed that ds hasnt done something like that as he has stuck more things in there than I can count now with no problems.

My nephew had his hermit crab latch onto his. Yup he was playing with his crab < naked phase of potty training> and my sister said he heard a scream that curled her hair and there the little guy was dancing up and down with the crab still firmly attached to his forskin. She said it was a little harder than you would think to remove a crab gently from a screaming dancing 2yr old.

Oh man. So wrong, and yet so funny!

That's it, I'm circing my babies so that crabs won't pinch them!!!

ROFL! The crab story really does leave a funny image in my mind. I'm glad to know my son isn't the only to catch himself in weird objects.

Btw, tonight his booboo is looking much better. I put the Bacitracin on it a few times yesterday since it was kinda a nasty looking cut, I'd have done that for any other body part too though. Something about putting ointment on something makes me feel like I'm helping it. I'm sure it could have helped itself though. I probably should have put breastmilk instead. Oh-well.

It appears that he just pulled the DVD case off instead of opening it to remove the trapped parts. YOUCH!

*cring* bad enough getting it shut in there but to pull it off *shudder*

I am glad it is healing well. Like you I put ointment on all cuts that bleed. Usually dosnt stay on long but still.

Yikes! Last year DS1 had a tick on his foreskin. The little guy didn't hardly blink when I took it off--I can't imagine the scene if it had been attached to his glans.
