In which time zone does the zodiac sign begin?

I've been really curious about this...if I had my baby tomorrow morning at say, 2 a.m. EST, would it technically be a Virgo (which starts tomorrow) or would it still be a Leo (b/c in say, California, it would still be today).

When exactly do things switch over, anyone know??

I believe that the location of your birth determines your astrology. Don't quote me on this, as I'm not an astrologist. But, I have some friends who do the whole astrological birth chart for clients and both the location and time of birth are used.

The time is determined where you are born.

The sun moved into Virgo on Saturday
at 7:38pm (EDT)
at 6:38pm (CDT)
at 5:38pm (MDT)
at 4:38pm (PDT)

and it was 5:38am Sunday August 23 in London

and it was 2:38pm Melbourne Sunday August 23

the event happens at one moment but in all time zones.

have a beautiful birth!
