how many of "us" preggos are still left? - Page 3

Still here as well, 42W today. As long as the baby continues to do well I can go to 43.... thank you to my MD Angela. EDD was Aug 10th.

I've tried some interesting induction stuff, all of the mild variety since we want to stay away from things that can have agressive side effects, so no cohoshes or vaginal EPO.

foot massages, Pineapple, eggplant parm, nip stim, sex, higer doses of oral EPO, RRL tea, I even baked a cake and asked her to come outbefore the last peice is eaten.

Yesterday was a long walk and spicy food... and I definately had some pretty painful contractions through the night, but I've had so much prodromal labor for the last 4+ weeks that I just refuse to time the contractions until they are consistenly painful. UNfortunately it still varies too much.

I carried DS to 43 weeks exactly and had a cesec after a failed induction, and when he came out they said he looked maybe 1 week overdue - and was by and large an easy and cuddly baby. I suppose his sister wants nothing less.

what are the potential aggressive side effects of vaginal EPO?
I took oral EPO for a week and started getting the worst migraines on the left side of my head. I was miserable and finally figured out the headaches began when I started taking it after I read on the internet that headaches can be a side-effect. I stopped taking it a few days ago and suddenly I am headache free!

I have not tried it vaginally, but I am a little concerned after how the oral dose effected me.

I just got back from my 40 week prenatal appointment and I let my midwife check me. I am right about 2 cm dilated, 60-70% effaced and the baby is at 0 station. Considering all the prodromal labor I have been having lately, it was nice to know something is happening.

and Amanda, I'm sure since GradysMom has had a previous c-section, she is probably staying away from anything that may be too invasive to her cervix. Just a guess, but I am sure it is similar to it being safer not to induce or ripen the cervix of vbacer's.

vbac! that makes sense. I haven't been using EPO vaginally but was considering it and hadn't really read anything that warned of vaginal use except the risk of infection

slimkins - I love 'bonus dilation' !

awe... Stacey, I have no idea what to do for the serotonin, but congrats on the blissful birth of your little lady!!::
I'm not sure if placenta would help in this situation, or if you are even on board with that idea. I am pretty sure it would be similar to how you would treat yourself after a marathon, though... so, maybe google that.

I'm still hanging in for the long haul....my first baby, due on the 30th. Tomorrow is my birthday so everyone is kidding me that she will come and steal my thunder! Last night was the first time I felt any of the signs of labor....between 2:30 a.m and 5:30 a.m I started getting mild, yet totally sporadic cramps in my lower region. This being my first time, I panic'd and started doing laundry at 3 a.m.....then fell asleep and they were over. I haven't noticed signs of my mucus plug coming dislodged, no show, no pressure....just one VERY active baby all of a sudden.

My mother insists that I need to be aware of these small signs since she had almost no symptoms besides a bit of spotting and a feeling like she had to "go"....then barely made it to the hospital in time. It's all the outsider opinions that freak me out.

My midwives insist that I have the most "boring" pregnany ever haha....everything has been perfect so far....it's a really amazing journey going through it for the first time.

I hate posting in here because I know there are others who have waited longer. I'm in labor and sitting here trying to avoid all the noise upstairs. I have my tens unit on my lower back and the pool is filled! Yay, I think I can really get going after my dad takes the kids to the park. It's already 7:00 here and I feel bad the kids are going to be going to bed late and have school tomorrow.

Funny I'm an Amanda too.... and yes that was it. Just don't want to be too aggressive and risk rupture since the protagladin gels have some nasty history, and the suggestions I had heard didn't resonate with me or my MD.

My massage therapist was just telling me that what she does, among other things helps release serotonin in the body - it makes sense since my mood management has been so much better, I've been getting chiropractics and massage this pregnancy for hip pain.

I did not know that and I am also going for a VBAC! Glad I have not tried the EPO vaginally then. Between that and the oral dose giving me headaches, I guess I had better stay away from the evening primrose oil!

My due date begins in 2 hours....

Congrats spring sun!!! Good luck marlyg, I hope this is it for you!!!!!

Congrats Stacy!
Marlygf: I hope you babe is here now too!

I had my MW appt yesterday (after my 3rd acupuncture visit) I was 1 cm, "thick cervix", and posterior..... so exactly the same as 4 weeks ago.

MW swept my membranes and "moved my cervix up". I am currently considering the bottle of castor oil she sent home w/ me. I am 41 weeks today which means I have 6 days left before she has to transfer out my care. 6 days is a long time....we'll see

FWIW: I've been doing oral EPO since 36 weeks, and started vaginal EPO at bedtime 5 days ago. I was worried about having a reaction to the vaginal route (like an allergy) but it's been fine.

6 days IS a long time...your body can do a lot of changing in that amount of time! Sending you good "opening up" vibes and wishes that all goes well in the next few days.
