The other option, if you don't want to shop now, is to get some pretty camisoles and tanks to wear under your button downs, then don't button them past your rib cage. My SIL went from an A cup to a C when she got pg and managed to squeeze (no pun intended) almost an extra 6 wks out of her shirts that way.

I'm so excited. We totally hit it off last time, and I was so sad I couldn't use her. She also trains CPM apprentices, which is something I totally dig. Unfortunately, CPMs are unlicensed in PA, so we're kinda operating under the books for this HBAC. I'll be getting parallel care somewhere, but probably won't set it up until after I've seen my MW at least once.
Wonder if she'd come to Martinsburg, WV? It's only 2 1/2 hours. Of course, we're due the same day and my last labor was 3 1/2 hours from first contraction to holding my baby, so that's probably not a good plan.

I know the feeling!

And I should have clarified in my post above, I just realized it didn't make much sense, I meant to say I'm not buying non-maternity pants/bottoms. T-shirts, sure, I'd buy a size larger for now.

It's ok, I won't be having this baby until well into May.

You're not too far from me, actually. She's in MD. It looks like it would still be 2.5 hours - which sounds like she may very well miss that marathon birth of yours!

We should meet up once we're big and uncomfortable. Looks like Gettysburg is halfway........

Somehow I missed this!!! HOLY MAMA!!! That is HORRIBLE!!!!!! Have you tried Unisom? OMG I would be SUCH a whiney baby right now!
I can't believe you had to take care of a sickypants husband on top of that. When my husband's sick he's such a PITA - I can't stand it even not pregnant!

Oh Ivymae

az100 My previous pregnancy I bought too big clothes & I was sorry. They looked schleppy when I was pregnant & they looked schleppy postpartum. I hardly wore them.

I also recommend just getting a couple cute maternity shirts or the long maternity tanks.. I LOVE the "shirt extender" tanks at Motherhood - they're smoothing & wonderful! You can wear them postpartum too.

Cherrybomb I SO dread the "When are you due?" question!!!! I still haven't figured out the perfect response My regular shirts officially no longer provide coverage at the bottom, so I have to buy more maternity shirts this weekened. The loosey goosey stuff looks awful on me, so I've got to stick with the fitted stuff that excentuates my very pregnant looking belly I've got going on.

Oh well! F-em
Last night I was feeling really sorry for myself, and this made me feel a lot better for looking so huge:

I'm not the only one :

Today is my anniversary! Wooo hoo!!! I'm making a roasted chicken with yams and almond biscuits : Not very romantic sounding, I know, but it's a family favourite. I'll make us something more special this weekened - we have a babysitter! Anyone have romantic dinner menu ideas?

I'm going to visit an old friend this morning who's having a really hard time in life. Send her your prayers!

Sending out lots of love to all of us, and special prayers for those of us pregnant after a loss. It's too easy to go down that road - I am SO thankful for the support I get here from you ladies!!! Love, love love!

9 weeks, 1 day according to midwife appt. yesterday.
It went SO well. Dh was able to come and help me wrangle the toddler, and we got to have a short ultrasound (w/ midwife, not a tech)-- it was an old machine, so the picture is blurry, but we *did* see the heartbeat and that the egg sac was deteriorating-- mw said both were a good sign (I had never hard of the latter being a sign of anything?)

We're very excited, and we started telling people after the appt. My Dh's good friends recently had a loss at 11 weeks, so I know we're not out of the woods (hah, as a mom, I don't feel like I'll ever be out of these woods!), but still-- very thankful for that tiny flickering heartbeat!

That is so cool! I've never heard of the egg sac thing either, but I'm sure your mw knows her stuff! Congrats on seeing the heartbeat!

Happy anniversary! Mmmm, romantic dinner ideas...personally I'd head out somewhere kinda swanky so I wouldn't have to cook!

I forgot to say this in my earlier post, but at my MW appointment they gave me this "goody bag" with info on what to expect, various magazines, and samples. Included in the samples was a tiny newborn diaper. OMG it was the freakin' cutest thing I've ever seen. I can't stop pulling it out of the bag and looking at it.

Hi all! I think I'm about 8 weeks. I keep forgetting. We have our first midwife appointment on Monday and I can't wait! It's the same one we used for our first son (homebirth) and I love her. I'm hoping we will be able to hear the heartbeat. I'm not sure if we'll have an ultrasound or not at all during this pregnancy, it's on our list of things to talk with her about.

I'm had pretty bad morning sickness (no puking, but nausea non-stop) this time, which is very different than DS. I hat feeling so crappy, but since I've also had some brown spotting over the last week there is part of me that is also glad for the strong pg symptoms, you know?

That would be fun! Where in MD is she (not that DH is okay with a homebirth anyway )?

I called my doctor yesterday about the spotting, and they had me come in to do blood tests today. HcG and progesterone. I'll get the results tomorrow morning, and I guess then I'll know if I get to keep this baby. I'm trying so hard not to worry, but it's really hard not to freak out.

Happy Anniversary, Carley! Our anniversary was last Wednesday. We had tacos and went to play D&D with old college friends. : Not sure if we're going to do anything romantic. It's a PITA getting a sitter.

Romantic dinner ideas? Fondue. Seriously. And feed each other. VERY romantic.

ETA: sehbub, I'll PM you.

carley, mmmmmm almond biscuits? share! my husband and i love having a nice dinner at home. anything can be romantic. i agree w/ smei - fondue is tha bomb!

rebeccalizzie, i hope time by til tomorrow, and you are able to rest and relax til then. i hope your signs turn out to be just normal, and not a problem for your pregnancy!

how are you, ivymae?

great to hear about all your appointments! afm, i talked to one of my midwives today for a long time i'm in . she is so. awesome. very encouraging, and said i'm in the perfect place emotionally, transitioning into being ok with the unknown is the beginning of transitioning into parenthood : we scheduled the first appointment for 12 weeks, but i can call and email w/ her in the meantime as much as i want to. so excited!

the midwife search

I started freaking out yesterday because I have no idea who is going to be our midwife! This is my first pregnancy and none of my friends or family members have done homebirths. In fact, no one I know personally has even had a doula. Anyways, before I was pregnant I felt silly looking up midwives and now I feel like I'm behind. I really need a professional to talk to. I'm so excited about being pregnant and over the last 5 years I've done lots of reading (I've wanted kids since I was 16 but it's obviously not the same as experiencing it. And I have SO many questions!

Also, we are telling my mom, brother and grandma today. Eek! My mom thinks I'm too young for everything I do. It's fine for her to have her opinion and let me know, but it is no fun when she becomes bitter about it. So tonight I feel like I'm in for: : I think my brother and grandma will be very excited for us though, so hopefully they will help balance out my mom! DH is doing his best to not let me get down from the way my mom is going to react. On the plus side, I think our new camera will get here today, so we can capture forever the look on my mom's face when we tell her!

Wish me luck! I'm hoping I've stressed out for nothing and my mom will be excited to be a grandparent!

Not it's time to fend off the starvation.:::

Bethanta, I have a FANTASTIC HBMW if you're in PA, NJ, MD, or DE. PM me for info.

ETA: How old are you? 21? I was 22 when I got pg with DS - I got those "too young" comments from EVERYONE. HELLO, I'm married! And besides, it's like people don't WANT to see young mothers succeed the way they treat us. I still get asked if I'm DS's older sister or babysitter.

This is probably a stupid question, but has anyone else been confused about how far along they are? I track my cycles, so I know when my LMP started and when O was, but I don't O in the middle of my cycle. If I calculate from my LMP, I am six weeks today. If I take into account how late my O date is compared to normal O (CD19 vs "normal" CD 14), would that mean that I am only 5 weeks and a few days. I was never very good at math.
If you know for sure when your O date was, then just go with O date minus 2 weeks.

So, for instance, my O date was July 15. So I start counting from July 1st, which makes me 8 weeks tomorrow.

If I started counting from my LMP, I'd think I was 10 weeks, and that would be bad.

You ladies are GENIUS!!! DH LOVES fondue!!!!!!!

Peace+Hope these are the biscuits: http://healthyindulgences.blogspot.c...label/biscuits My family LOVES them - they are sooo good!!!

chichimamma I think they do one every Wed - here's her website!!! Definitely give them a call/email http://www.midwifeseattle.com/ I'll PM you with the info too!!!

MaterPrimaePuellae WONDERFUL news!!! I totally love the "never out of the woods"! SO true!!!

Ell-Bell & rebeccalizzie Sending you ladies nice relaxing :

Bethanta good luck in your midwife hunt! The only advice I have is to TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS #1. If you don't feel "rightness" interview someone else. Asking around natural childbirth instructors is a good way to find a midwife. References from women (and/or doulas) who have birthed with the provider are invaluable. References from doctors are not as reliable.

az100 DEFINITELY go by O date (or get an ultrasound - dating in the first trimester is the most reliable!) If I went by my LMP I'd be "due" March 5th! I wish!!!

If I go by LMP I'm due 4/23 which makes me 5wks today. If I go by O date (CD 20 of 30 for me) then I'm due 4/29. We'll see what the dating sono has to say.
