Hello all!
I'm writing here because my gut tells me this might be a foreskin issue, but I may be wrong.
My 4 year old had a 'bout' of unexplained frequent urination in January (2009) which lasted about 4 weeks. He would have the urge to pee, but nothing much would come out, maybe a few drops. He had tons of tests, and nothing unusual was found. Our Dr looked at his penis, but did not retract it. I retracted the foreskin just enough for her to see the tip of his penis (the foreskin was not retracted over the penis, just gently pushed a tiny bit to see the urethral opening), because she wanted to see if it looked ok, and it did. No swab was taken (I was thinking yeast maybe?). The Dr mentioned something called 'unexplained frequent urination' and we left it at that. Well, it has recurred, and we're going on week 6 here. He's had two urine tests, and we have a requisition for an ultrasound (to rule out stuff internally, I guess), but nobody has looked at his penis. He says his penis is bothering him, he'll often roll over onto his belly with his hands covering it (clothed or not). he doesn't say it hurts or itches, just that it is bothering him. The peeing occurs most frequently at night, but sometimes during the day too. It might be behavioural, he might be a bit worried about starting JK in the fall (although he is not expressing this, and he is very verbal and talks about his feelings quite freely). I just don't know where to go with this. We're getting the ultrasound this week, but should I request a swab too, in case it is a yeast infection or bacterial infection? There is no indication of an infection, but I don't really know what I would be looking for anyway...
Any advice would be helpful.
Thank you!
